I have foolishly damaged (very slightly) the window mechanism in the drivers door of my 550, so that when the window closes there is a very small gap which does not seal, and my mechanic has told me that it is not possible to repair, and the easiest solution is to find a replacement mechanism which operates the window.

However, these are naturally very expensive, and it occurred to me that this mechanism may not be exclusive to Ferrari, so it 'may' be possible to find a more realistically priced solution.

Does anyone know if this mechanism is available on other cars?

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Piers- More info. What did you break? The parts catalogs do not even show the 550 and 575M using the same lifting device.

    Piers,

I suspect you accidentally closed your door with the window in the full up position after disconnecting the battery.

If you have just a small gap, it is indeed possible to adjust the mechanism. Classic Coach recently repaired a faulty driver's door hinge assembly for me. It involved taking off the door and removing everything inside for the body technician to repair and reinforce the hinge. When he reassembled the door's contents, he adjusted the lift mechanism to improve the position of the window in the full up position. I hadn't noticed any gap prior to the repair, but it was small, just 2 millimeters or so, judging by the indentations on the trim.
