    Did you punish it? :D

    Good tip.

I thought you may have disturbed a relay by doing this, but I can't think of any which would cause this behaviour. No comms probably means you're either not getting battery or ignition power to the Motronic ECUs. Battery power goes through fuses, not relays. Ignition power comes straight from the key.

If it happens again, check for live battery power on fuses 8 and 9. Or live battery power at plug G (pin 9 red/blue wire) and pin J (pin 5, red/blue wire).

Do you have a workshop manual reference? The ECU does control relays, but only after it has been supplied with battery and ignition key power.

The workshop manual should have wiring diagrams, but they have lots of errors. They misidentify the engine banks and mislabel the pins on the ECU. My diagrams may be easier to follow.

The ECU needs key power to be able to send data to the OBD2 port. I believe the OBD port is powered by the cigarette lighter fuse (no relays, live battery power). I think you already understand that the immobiliser needs to be deactivated on unmodified cars for the ECU to be able to communicate with the OBD2 port.

Sorry, I only offer free, unqualified advice. I'm sure there are a few Ferrari specialists in NJ.
