Excited that after many years, I finally got an 85 308 GTS qv. Immediately took her on a 500 mile journey. At first it was a little unusual. By the end, it is pure love.

Needs: belt was done 5k miles ago, but 6 years ago. Mechanic who worked on the car said, should do with the year.

    Small oil leak.

It won't lock, issue with power door lock. Other than that...everything else works, including AC . Typical slow windows...painfully so. Am looking forward to making her a summer daily driver next year. :)

You say the door locks don't work? Do you hear the central locking attempt to work then fail? If so, take a look at your door alignment. One of the first signs of a sagging door is an impinged latch. I started out having a intermittent door-lock issue, which became constant, and then progressed to the point where the passenger door actually opened while I was driving (!). Fortunately, my wife was good enough to hold it shut till we got home, and didn't give me too much grief over it after the fact.

The upshot is, I found a good bodyman that specializes in Italian stuff and he fixed it while I waited. Didn't even have to replace the hinge pin. No problem since and the lock works great again.

He related to me that this is extremely common with this cars, especially on the passenger side, as people tend to lever themselves in and out of the low seat by pushing down on the door.

By the way, congrats on your purchase. I have an '85 as well. 56317, manufactured in February. When was yours built, by the way?

    Happy trails.

Congratulations! Double check that the plastic lock knobs are not screwed down too far on their respective posts. This can cause them to bind preventing locking.

Thanks for the advice! I will check out the door lock issue. I do know, according to the shop, there was a minor incident where the door and quarter were replaced, so that may be a contributing factor to the door lock. I do hear it trying to work, so the electronic mechanism seems to function.

This car was born in April '85.

The pics I have taken did not come out amazing, and will post soon. Here is one that I love that the dealership took of it in the showroom. It is also my computer wallpaper at the moment. :)

Funny...people are asking me what I want for Christmas....I am like "I am good"..lol! How about a timing belt?
