    Hi
I am considering altering the air induction system, mainly for sound improvements on my 575SA. Has anyone altered their air filters etc any comments or links would also be appreciated. I currently have the Novitec unvalved exhaust so the tail end is sorted :)

I am not a fan of open air filters - you may want to read something about filtration efficiency before you consider putting something like this on your car. Such as in this article: http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Upgrade/Air_filter.htm
I have to admit, the K&N story sounds good - but personally I am skeptical. I am sure SAE has many tests for dust, with different composition of the larger and smaller particles. I would be interested in how much increased wear an engine would have with these. Personally that is more important to me than a little more hp or better sound, but to each his own.

If you decide to go with K&N's you need to buy 3 x 550 filters and cut simply extend 2 with the ends of the 3rd. I along with millions of happy racers have had no issues with K&N filters which do flow better than the stock ones and do not muck up MAFS if the correct oil is used, IMO

I have BMC filters and I am very happy with them.

I have fully removed the air filters during dyno testing with no gains in performance. Stick with OEM filters.

K&Ns cost much less initially and over time.

I apologize as my question is completely off subject.
I am looking for a 575SA and was told by many legitimate experts to stay away from it because of potential serious (and expensive) issues with the electric roof.
What is your own experience and what do you think?

70,000 km and no problems (except an occasional delay in shutting). The actual roof itself is fine but always garaged and usually driven top down. Some think being driven top up lots means transfer stresses flow through roof. Not sure about that, but really good system to me.
