Does it exist? Any plans? I always thought the 550 Barchetta was a beautiful car but the 550s propensity to become an expensive garage fixture has always given me pause. A 575 Barchetta would be a welcome sight.
Yes it exists - the 575 Superamerica Its been around for a bit now, you should find plenty of pics and info about it EDIT: here are a few pics, plenty more where they came from http://img274.echo.cx/img274/9560/ferrari575superamerica163tf.jpg http://img274.echo.cx/img274/9772/ferrari575superamerica309wv.jpg http://img274.echo.cx/img274/2445/ferrari575superamerica100dc.jpg
By this term do you mean a Barchetta owner doesn't do much driving of his 550, just leaves it sitting around? The Barchetta Pininfarina had a limited run, I think only 448 of them in total. Initially there was a substantial premium placed on this Ferrari. I remember my Ferrari dealer had one for quite a while on its floor for 450-475K. I think it finally sold for the high 200K's, which is where it was priced initially. I will be interested to follow the Superamerica's progress in N. America.
I do. Enzo = Best Street car EVER! Period. Has everything. No debate. Wish they made 1000 more but that is just so I could afford one. F40 = Best car of its time and beyond. Amazing performance car. A truely great Ferrari. 550 Barchetta... beautiful but what I mean by garage fixture has to do with all the 550 maintenance nightmare stories I hear. It's a really beautiful car though. My initially comment on the Superamerica is just my initial reaction. I look forward to seeing one sometime soon. Many older F cars are amazing. Some of the most valuable collector cars in the world. 360... 355... 348... 612... etc... to me Ferrari relies to heavily on heritage here. Bad cars? Course not. 348 a great car? Sorry, I don't see it. Each is surely made by a great car company but each is disappointingly not great... to me.
Don't really like it, Don't really like it? What? I must be crazy then to think it is one of the most attractive road cars made in the last twenty years. If I had the money to buy it and maintain it, I would love to. BT
