I read on Italiaspeed.com that Ferrari is making a stripped out challenge stradale version of the 575m next year....anybody know bout this? I hope this isn't a repost of a thread already, but lets chat anyways.

the debut is on the 2005 Detriot Motor show....

The 575 Berlinetta will have the GTC handling pack with Brembo CCM carbon ceramic brakes and a faster gear box...

I thought that the SuperAmerica was the last of the new versions of the Maranello cars... I hope they make a 575CS it would be my dream car.

yes..im sure the 575cs would be great alongside with the 360cs and hopefully a 430cs.....but if having a 430cs made and 575 cs made....wont that affect the depreciation/value of a normal 430 or 360 for that matter?..or will it just lose value?

italiaspeed reported this a while ago, and nothing has ever come of it - has there been a new story? The few official F folks I've asked have said "no."

It still makes no sense to me why the 12 cylinder cars are now slower than the v8s :p Why should you pay more for less ? A 575 would be destroyed by a CS or 430 around the track and infact in a straight line!

Different kinds of cars.....and top speed wise a 575 is higher then a CS, by about 15 mph or so. That's alot top speed wise.

Indeed, the 12 will always put out more torque. It was always going to be a few mph or so higher ( 430 196> ? ). Honestly though, on a track, on the street even down a strip, the 8 cylinder car is going to be quicker. I know the 575 is more of a GT car. However, the GTC version should be quicker than it is. Perhaps not around the bends but at least quicker in a straight line. Shave the weight I say !

I agree that a 575 CS would be a great addition to the Ferrari line up. However, wouldn't there need to be a 575 challege series similar to the 360 challenge series? I know that it a series such as this does not exist and probably never will. I believe that the CS name should be reserved for cars such as the 360 that have "cut there teeth" in an actual series that produced actual r&d for its road-going sibling. But that leaves you something to think about...575 challenge series...

I own a 1998 550. Love the car. But if Ferrari ever builds/produces a 575CS, I would give it some serious thought about buying one.

i doubt ferrari will make a CS version of the 575. i think the SuperAmerica is the last edition of the maranello series. ferrari is concentrating on the replacement...but if they do make a CS version that would be cool. prolly going to cost around half a million dollars tho.

Your'e probably better off biuilding your own out of an old 550 or 575

The 550 that won LeMans was not built by F, nor were most of the 550 race cars.

If by "less" you mean quicker from 0-60 or more nimble around the race track....why indeed? By the same token, a 996TT would smoke a 360 or 430, me thinks, not to mention the upcoming 997TT...so why pay "more" for the Ferrari?
Much like driving a Ferrari is a whole other driving experience from driving a porsche (regardless of the hard numbers)...driving a 575 is a whole other experience from driving a 360/430. Im not sure it would qualify as "less" of an experience...just one of a different kind. For example, from a comfort and luxury viewpoint, I hardly think any 360 or 430 can compare to the 575. What about practicality/useability, or understated styling....neither better or worse than the 360/430...just different. I can assure you, not everyone that drives a Ferrari wants to be cruising around in the latest "spaceship design" from Pininfarina.
As far as not being as fast or nimble, for 95% of street driving, you will never tell the difference. In fact, at higher speeds, the beefier torque of the 12 would shame the 8. At the track, all bets are off, as the weight gives the 360/430 a clear advantage in nimbleness. However, that being said, the 575 (at least with the fiorano pkg.) is an awesome handling car. Try one and see!

If it still makes no sense to you, take them both out for a test drive and see...there is more to the driving experience than the hard numbers would indicate...and whats good for the goose, isnt always whats good for the gander.

Oh, and back to the original question of this thread, I would love to see a 575 CS...whats not to love?

    my $0.02
