Well, it finally happened! Today my check engine light came on as a steady glow (not a flasher) while driving. No loss of power of any kind. About a year and 4k ago, the cam belt replacement was performed, and the 15k done at a dealership prior to my purchase. As I expressed in an earlier thread, I have had trouble putting gas in the car at a full stream at the pump. The gas pump shuts off, and it is only possible to fill the tank at a slow delivery speed. A fellow F-chatter suggested checking the charcoal filter and gas venting system. When i lifted the hood, I thought I heard a vacuum leak, but that sound might have been my mind playing tricks. I was not able to isolate the sound. I checked the 02 sensor connectors and they appear clean. I am having the car trucked to dealer next week for a check. Just to be on the super safe side I am afraid to drive it. I am hoping for the best (bad sensor or gas vent blockage). I promised the other F-chatter that I would post results for other 575 owners. I am hoping I do not have to deal with the intake manifold issue that he has already posted about. Any other 575 owners have things, or suggestions to look for? I did an exhaustive search on this site and do not want to overlook anything. Keeping fingers crossed and I will post results for others.

get a OBD tool at the local autoparts store and you will be able to see what the problem is yourself. I bought one for about $100. Almost all cars made in the last 10 years have these hookups so you can use it for other cars. Been helpful on my 360.

I was thinking of that, and have access to one, but do the $100 jobies read the codes from the cars with the sd3 prong uprade on '04s? Maybe I am mistaken, but I was under the impression that the generic ob sensors do not work. It would be great if I am wrong.

I will be able to tell you next week if a 2003 575M can be read. My new 575 arrives next week to add to my collection.

Yep, a '04 can be read by a $100 OBD II. After my butt cheeks unclenched, turns out all I had was a random misfire on cylinder 12 at some point yesterday. Now what exactly caused that is a new mystery, but I just cleared the code and took a long and spirited drive this morning/early afternoon. Glad to report the light has stayed off. This leaves however that pesky gas problem. I will still report what I find out about that later to help out any other 575 people who might experience the same. Thanks guys

Can you post the model number of the unit you purchased that worked?

Seems that the cable was unnecessary for this model.

    Thanks,

DSD, just the mid-priced orange job they sell for a little over $100 at Advance Auto. I think I saw the same one at Auto Zone one time. They have some fancier and some cheaper. The one I used is made by Actron #CP9175. I have no idea its place in the world of OBD devices, but a friend of mine had it in his Landrover for the sole purpose of cutting off that damn light. He blows O2 sensors like Paris Hilton. It reads Ferrari codes on my 575 without having to look up numbers. Playing around this afternoon, I plugged it into all the cars in my driveway and it reads.

Where is the plug that the OBD connects to in the car?
    Thanks
