Before I bought my 550 Maranello I test drove a couple of R8s and several F355s in 2017-2018. The F355 was very compelling but R8 didn’t come close. I know they have become a lot more popular lately but back when I was looking they were not as popular.

To the original posted question, I was really surprised by the price the TDF Blue over Cuoio 575 just sold for on BAT... Was expecting at least 110, even with the miles.

Any thoughts on the final 96K price? Stock market and war jitters may have had an impact?

I don't see stock market or international events having signinificant and immediate impact on car valuations. Don't see it impacting other car prices measurably yet. The 2002 TdF 575 sold on BaT for $101k, which is about halfway between a no. 2 and no. 3 valuation on Hagerty's scale. Pretty much in line with the car's mileage which seems to be used as defacto condition indicator for a lot of online buyers.

Joel as we discussed historically, back when I first looked at your 575 my thoughts were very positive/strong on your car….it’s a really desirable one on my list. Back then starting with an 8 for me would have bought it. The TdF this week if it was 110 then yours is easily 20-30 higher?

Not sure I totally understand the question, but to me the BAT car was a solid 110-120K car on another day. Never understand the mileage concern on these, to me 40K is nothing if a car has been maintained, in fact it's a major bonus... Would never pay a premium for a garage queen with the unknowns that entails, and these engines are just getting broken in at 40K so its not like you are looking at a rebuild or similar anytime soon.

To me the only visible downside to the car was stickies that needed doing, which I now know is an $8,000 proposition (parts removal and replacement, Sticky RX fantastic work) that some might factor into the price. Still, to me this car at $96K was a bargain.

Agree the stock market has a longer term impact on prices that hasn't yet taken effect (if it ever will), but an auction price is a very different thing that depends on immediate feelings of bidders on that very day, at that very time. Given the market over the past two weeks, and Ukraine on that day (which I think has weighed heavily on many people's minds), can easily see that impacting potential bidders' decisions.

575's. for better and worse, are still in a price range that they are purchased by people with disposable income, but people who still have to think about how they dispose it. Bidders on a Gullwing Mercedes or similarly priced car might not be as influenced by current events.

That's waaaaaay high for the stickies. Heck, my last major with new tires was $6k. Had my HVAC panel sent to StickyNoMore at the last annual and the whole shebang was just over $1500.

I agree the BAT car was a deal.

While some of us here like the less common colors, I'm not 100% convinced the TDF did it any favors. It could have just been the pictures, which IMO didn't show the color as well as they could have.

Agree on the photos, there was something about the tonality that didn’t quite capture the blue well… I do think the interior looked great though.

As to the stickies $$, my price quoted was for absolutely every sticky piece in the car, dash, steering column, VIN plate and elsewhere… And not to start one of those threads (of which they’re already many), but honestly there is no comparison between Sticky No More and StickyRX results. Either out of the box, or over time durability, it does cost about 2x for the latter, but it’s an entirely different level of restoration that’s apples to oranges. Can’t compare by price, it’s about what one wants to eat.

A friend took off his sticky steering column surround, I think it was 4 Philips screws. He cleaned it with some kind of washing machine detergent. Then he sprayed it with BBQ black. It looks amazing.

Mine looks great and I doubt I'll have any issues. They also did my switches several years before I bought the car in January '18 and they're holding up very well.

At any rate, $8k would be a no go for me, and I have no problem maintaining my car promptly and properly.

To each their own I suppose.

Lorenzo00, I know someone who did their entire 360 cabin with denatured alcohol and BBQ and it looks fantastic! :)

Is the paint for aesthetics only or used to protect the switches ,etc from getting sticky again?

Silver manual 1996 F355 Berlinetta with 30k miles and questionable paint and interior sells for $165k on BaT today. That's about 35% over original MSRP. According to this metric any manual Maranello with less than 30k miles that sells for less than $297k is below market. And I'm not factoring in the fact that there are about 4 times F355s as there are Maranellos. I think a lot of this seemingly irrational and model driven valuation is momentum driven making current Maranello valuation more rational or less irrational than F355 valuation.

I think @Qksilver 's pricing ranges seem like a good starting point +-10%.

I am a relatively new Maranello owner, but I don't think I will ever sell mine. It really is a car from a unique era in Ferrari's history when the cars became modern enough to be easy (relatively) to live with. I also think it is one of the last beautiful Ferraris. Living in the People's Republic of Vermont, I also like that it is very low-key for an exotic- it does not call attention to itself. Finally, revving out a Ferrari V12 is truly one of life's great pleasures...

That should give the right to park in the "clean air vehicle" parking stalls.

The sticky surfaces are caused by the original (failed) coating on them. That coating is removed. The replacement coatings are durable finishes that don’t have the sticky problem.
