Thinking about a 575. Have always enjoyed manual shift cars (present car is a manual Lambo). But I read nice things here about the F1 in the 575. My only experience with the F1 was a weekend rental in a 2003 F360. I was bothered by the lag between the low gears on heavy acceleration. True it probably shifts faster that a manual, but I found the delay between shifts bothersome. Seems like if you are going to give up the fun of clutching and shifting you should get something in return - like fast shifts? How is it with the 575. Does the car retain its fun nature with the F1?

575 F1 is awesome. Its not like a 360 F1 at all. Its butter smooth at low rpms, very quick above 7200 (faster than you could shift manually). Auto mode sucks but who cares about that. If you're set on manual then look for a 550.

I will second what FREFAN says.In fact I just had my 575 in at
FNE and there was a recall on the ECU of the tranny which"shortened"
the shift time.I think all F-cars are unique in their own way but I'll
tell you for overall comfort and power as well as maintainance issue's
you'll have to go far to top a 575. Just my 2 cents...

I had an '03 360 with the F1 and my '02 575 F1 is a better implementation of that technology. It is still, however, an acquired taste ........some people like smooth, others prefer crunchy. In the 360 I often wondered if I might enjoy the traditional 6-speed more, but I have no such 2nd guessing in the 575.

Good insight. I'll give the F1 a try. Any idea if the 2002 - 2005 cars can all be made to shift the same or should I stick with the later cars for the best shift? Thanks much.

I have a 1998 550 and a 2005 575F1. I like driving the F1 much better than the manual. There both nice, But when you leave a red light with the 575 wow.
