I'm thinking about adding a 355 to my stable. My 575 has been rock solid (knock on wood). I want to know your 355 F1 experience is/was vis a vis your 575 F1 experience. Am I asking for trouble with a 355 F1?I was initially nervous when I got the 575, but a few years of ownership put my mind at ease. Will my confidence in the 575 translate into delusions of grandeur with the 355??

    Thanks!

Wade- The 355 F1 system was a first generation system and fitted to a car that does not have a digital throttle like the 360 and 575. As a consequence, it is necessary to match revs on downshifts because the F1 system does not have sufficient throttle authority to completely do so. Some owners enjoy that part of driving an F1 355, feeling more involved in the driving process. Some parts for this 1st gen system can be very expensive, but 360 substitutions have been made.

One thing making the F1 system so nice on the 575M is the huge well of torque, which the 355, and even the 360, does not have. This means the big V12 can pull with much less clutch slipping than is necessary with the smaller V8s. Try one and see how you like it. I never have, so am just passing on what I know. The owners love them.

You probably will get more responses on the 348/355 forum, but may not find too many owners who have driven both.
