I'm considering purchasing a 575 w/ F1 and wanted to know what the current consensus is on the maturity of the 575 F1 software. How is it in comparison to the Challenge Stradale F1 software.

    Regards,
    Chris

It's more the car than the software. 12 is far more suited to F1 than 8, as it is not nearly as peaky. CS is great as it runs and feels like a racecar, but 360 and QP are lousy, jerky things in traffic. 575, otoh, feels effortless. My 550 is a 6sp, but you can leave it in one gear and drive it nearly like an auto. Torque really seems to make the F1 box/software work nicely in both low and high stress environments.
My SA will be an F1A, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I don't think there have been very many software upgrades to the 12 F1, unlike the 8 F1(360, Maser, QP).
    FWIW

Hey mr. m, long time no chat, as you know I owned an '03 575 w/ F1 and the Fiorano package - I don't have any hard data, but from a seat of the pants perspective I thought the 575 F1 was great, far superior to the F1 on either the '99 360 or the '01 360C I've driven, and comparable to the CS. I loved the car, especially the torque, you'll probably want to improve the exhaust, if it hasn't already been done. Sure you want the big GT though?

edit - come to the track this weekend, maybe someone will have a 575 F1 to demo for you

I drive the CS and had a few chance to drive my bro's 575 HGTC F1. I gotta say that 575 is much smoother in traffic and easier-going all around. It's so effortless, the car feels slow...ha ha. The CS is totally different animal with jerky super quick shift (something to do with me using Race mode a lot..ha). In traffic, I can creep along in the CS with acceptable level of smoothness, but it's not nearly as easy as the 575. Having said that, I must say I prefer the CS's program than the 575 though.

The 575 shifts way too slow in normal mode for my taste. The sport mode helps a bit in term of shifting time and the suspension firm up nicely. To me, in normal mode I give it a 7/10, in sport mode I give it 9/10...only if the shift is a vee bit quicker, it would be perfect.

On the 575 for really fast shifts you need to be in sport mode AND hit 7k rpm. I think the shifts are neck-breaking fast. I'm suprised it doesn't chirp the tires (maybe it does but with tubi's I can't hear it).

At low rpm shifts are very smooth and quite mellow (even in sport mode).

U.S. models don't have launch control mode. I'm seriously bummed about that :( But after 4k miles I need new tires so maybe thats Ok anyway.

I have an 05 575M F-1 Fiorano. The shifts are much smoother and faster than any of the three other 8 cylinder Ferrari's I previously had with the F-1 transmission (1 F355 Fiorano, 2 360s). I think the F-1 transmission is much more suited to the 12 cylinder cars, touring cars, than the 8s. The "auto" transmission mode continues to be a joke however...just take it off and throw it away...it can't get any easier than the F-1.
