The instrument cluster backlight does not seem to be working on my 575. Interestingly, the needles on the speedo and rev-counter and other gauges light up, but not the backlight.

When I use buttons R and S to adjust the instrument light brightness (from 0-30), there is an X in the bottom left corner of the display -does this indicate something is amiss?

I have checked fuses F16 and F34 which are the "Instrument" fuses, but both seem ok.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

    Richard

Richard- The 360, F430, and 575s use a strip background lighting system which can quit working. See the image below. The experts on this are at FAI in SoCal and Rod or Will should be able to answer any questions you have and repair the panel if it needs it.

    Taz,
    Many thanks for your reply.

I have now seen this item (light strip) on ebay, but am now wondering how big a job it is to remove the instrument cluster. I am a reasonably able mechanic but do not know where to start with working on the dash. All help much appreciated.

Richard- Buy a workshop manual for the 575M from Ricambi and it spells out all the procedures for removal. Rod has a shortcut method for removing just the instrument panel and it might be worth the $500 to him to get her fixed just so you do not have to R&R the entire dash, an 8 hour job for a pro and very fiddly.
