Quick question. Are the fenders on a 575 with the Scuderia Shields option different than one without. I'm under the impression that they are, like other Ferraris ordered with the shields, the fenders have special mounting slots for them.

    Thanks!

The fenders hen made are stamped with indentations for the shield, therefore they cannot be retrofitted.

Yes they can. Premier Motorsport down here does it regularly.

The stamped indentations are less than the thickness of the factory shields, so they are not flush; the shields stick up above the surface somewhat. Aftermarket shields are a bit thinner and the net effect is about the same.

    are you sure?

I mean if going into the expense and process of taking off the fenders, and making a depression via some pounding or cut-n-weld technique, would it be prudent to make the correct thickness. On a 345 or similar hood, where the synthetic material is used, it would be fairly easy to make the correct depth.

Hi Rik, its Mike we've met in Sonoma during the rampages a few times.

On my 575 the shields do stick up above the fender a few mm. So I think he's right about that.

yes, I remember...are you going to be at this year's Infineon? or Sonoma Film festival: there are going to be many lovely Ferraris there :)

Q: on your 575, you should have a [?] non-metal hood...correct? AND is your factory created?

yes I'll be there in my 575 and hope to see you there too. to answer your question, my 575 hood is factory and is either metal or concrete, it weighs a ton. I looked at the 575 gtc cf hood, but for 30k I can go to the gym ;)
