    I would absolutely watch.

If Tyler Hoover has over a million you tube subscribers for his channel then Brian could have a ton as well. I like Hoovies mechanic “the Wizard” and the Wizards channel but I’d even more so like a channel for Rifledriver!

Let’s crowdsource a fund to get a young tech-saavy person to do all the editing/etc.

Would make at least a fantastic “limited series”.

My favorite local tech is booked for weeks in advance and has been for years. He will not leave his shop to go flying cross country inspecting cars for his clients. Maybe now and then and for the right fee but he’s not going to be on call for that service. The local tech you recommended to me a while back was impossible to even make an appointment with to service my car at his shop over several months of trying. Do you really think he would jump on a plane to go inspect a car at some random location on short notice? And what if the car doesn’t pan out and another candidate becomes available a week later? Do you really believe he’d jump on another plane for another inspection somewhere else? How many times can you do that before having enough? It is not realistic nor feasible flying people around inspecting cars in the Maranello and lower price range. I can see people doing that in the Enzo, F40, and F50 price range but in the sub million dollar rage it can become very costly quickly relative to the car’s value/risk. That’s why I find auction sites such as BaT offer a better alternative as one can at least eliminate the rough ones based on records, photos, and seller’s input.

And yes @Ferrari55whoa count me in on crowd funding that channel.

You live in the most high quality mechanic rich area of the entire world. Everyone good in this business is very busy.
People in this business are moving around the country every day looking at cars for clients. The only reason they are not doing that for you
is you have not bothered to find them or you have not made it worth their while. I am booked for a couple of years. Trust me, if a good client needed me to go to Florida tomorrow I'd be on a plane. Guys in restoration are getting ready for Pebble so not them but outside of Pat Ottis and his guys there are others in the Bay Area who would if it was worth their while.

Apologies for more sidetracking on this thread….wouldn't it be awesome to have dinner and beers in Texas with Brian @Rifledriver plus @Cribbj Jon and others from here in our group!

whenever someone sets that up please put me on the list and if Terry would come from TN then that would be a must attend event!

Terry whenever I think about you I think about that spanish guy in the beer commercials “the most interesting man in the world”!

i don’t say that with any sarcasm - your knowledge is awesome! I need to absorb it in person someday over a meal or coffee or at a car show or something! ;-)

well I finally got the 550 back after a prolonged hospital stay.

The gaskets used on the intake manifold(360'S use also use them) are known to fail, about an inch of gasket disappeared, most likely into the engine, luckily no engine damage, replaced with the now newer better gasket. it must have been a gradual deterioration as I didn't notice the lack of power, but I did notice it didn't sound right... well now the engine sounds so good and performs even better... really happy.

New tyres tomorrow, unfortunately the only tyres available are the yokohama advan semi slicks.... has anyone tried these ?

Those paper gaskets were really useless, especially since the intake manifold bolts are torqued so loosely. I had my techs torque them at every annual, but when we replaced them, several sections were still missing and apparently safely digested.

The thing I noticed about torquing the intake manifold is the sharp angles and tight spaces. That inevitably scrubs torque by u joint angle, extension length, or tool contact with the manifold surface. I increased my torque 20 to 50 % depending on the particular nut. (12 to 15 nm).

I am about to have my first major on my 575 (last was 5 years ago by the PO and per documentation mainly a belt job). In detail, my plan is:

    1. Obtain parts: Major Kit + 181599
    2. Replace belts + gaskets + fix needed leaks + replace plenum hose + replace injectors
    3. ????
Any suggestions on what else beyond the following I should also do (beyond anything discovered while in there)? I am trying to plan out/get all the parts ready in anticipation and appreciate any guidance!

Full list of planned parts per the kit + additional hose:

    2 x 182931 COVER GASKET 575M/612S

    2 x 187744 TIMING BELT (456/550/575/612)
    2 x 180935 AIR FILTER (ENZO/575/612S UNTIL ASSY 661)
    2 x 206166 OIL FILTER
    1 x 201456 PUMP BELT"DAYCO PV-K" A 5
    1 x 201444 ALT AND COMPRESSOR BELT PVK A6

If you’re doing all that you might as well throw in a dozen new sparkplugs.

I had my ignition wires all tested and glad I did, one was badly corroded and required replacement.

That and a completely broken terminal nut on top one of my spark plugs ! How does that even happen ?! My idle is much better now !

575Ms have coil on plug ignition and are not rough on spark plug wires since only a firing signal is being sent through the wires to the coils.

Note that the large plenum hose is silicone on a 575M, with white concentric bands on both ends. The small, non-silicone rubber hoses are the ones that tend to fail on a 575M.

If you change plugs, put in NGK Iridiums.

Based on my 456 major (not sure about 575 differences). Clean and test injectors at local shop or mail away. Check fuel pressure regulator for leaks. Replace cam sensors. Repair/replace cracked belt covers. Test blow by check valves. Replace fans plus add external relays while belts are out (plenty of room to work). Repair/replace radiator for same reason. Time cams. Hill engineering bearings. Strip and Paint cam covers + plenum. Clean intake components, replace gaskets. Clean/lube/ adjust throttle cable.Check aux air for leaks especially exhaust vacuum. RR water pump components especially unions. All sensors under plenum. Replace cracked injector harness boots.

Stu- A good chunk of that is not applicable to 575s.

575 motor is a 456 evolution so I figured some of it is the same.
    Which ones?

Different fans (not SPAL), fuse/relay panels and harness, radiators newer generation and have not caused many problems, no throttle cable, no separate fuel pressure regulator or filter and no fuel return, different intake manifold (new gaskets are much better than old paper ones for all the F116/F133 V12s). Lots of differences between the 550 and 575M, too.

Affirmative, a good idea, or with other silicone hoses. 135171 just burst one of the original plenum hoses. Only 20 years old, what gives?
