I had to replace the 575 radiator. It hit a manhole cover and cracked it. It also broken the oil radiator and one fan. I purchased the fan recommendation from CribbJ on the parts cross reference. It was the Ferrari P/N: 208819 crossed to the SPAL P/N: 30102803. I got it in and I can tell you that this fan is much wider than the old one but I got it to fit in. Now I have filled the coolant heated and cycled it several times with the heat in the car at full temperature. I have done a couple hot bleeds on the thermostat bell housing with no air escaping and the temperature still creeps up at idle. It takes a while but I do not see the fans cooling the car. The fans come on about 180 F or so but the temperature does not drop.

The new fan does not seem to pull as much air through it as the old one. Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas on anything else I can try before I pull everything back apart again to change out the fan?

I can drive the car for a few days to see if it gets better but I don't feel that it is an air lock. Are these cars prone to it?

Do you see i difference when you drive at a quick pace ..does the temperature get lower faster ..

Also the temperature should stay at around that 190 mark (can't recall what temp is the original thermostat) and not really move once warmed up. If you see it climb at idle pass 210 then something is wrong

I would still not rule out air pocket

Hmmm.. sounds more like an air pocket .. unless the radiator is under rated

Just curious did you have any issues before changing radiators.. my responses are based in nothing changed except for radiator, flush and fans and that all was working fine before hitting man hole cover

Okay, found the problem. The fan from Spal came wired backwards. The connector is keyed.so it only plugs in one way and the fan was running backwards. Since it is a DC fan I just took the connector apart and swamped the leads and it is now fine. Hard to believe that the quality of there would be an issue with italian electronics. :)

575Ms do not use SPAL fans like the 550.

I agree but the recommended cross in the cross reference thread is the 575 SPAL P/N: 30102803. It fits and it works but it is a little wide and touches the cross member at the bottom. I got it on Amazon in a couple days for $194 so it is a pretty good savings and it works as long as you know how to rewire it!
