Had been curious as to what the production was on the 575M so I called
Maranello and the best they could tell me was 5700 were made which included
all the 550's including the Barchetta's and the 10 prototype 550's.Anyone
know the actual #,It would seem by all I can find that the # is something
    less than 2000 ?

    Michael,

If this is what you were told, you were fed rubbish...

    3633 550's were made (inc 33 WSR's edition's), 448 Barchetta's plus another 6 Prototype's & 2 design studies, 559 Superamaerica's = 4648 - 5700, which would mean ther are only 1052 575M's out there, I have over 1000 in my database, and I'm positive I do not have nearly all of them....

My guess, and it is only that....is at least 2,500 coupe's, and then the 559 SA's on top of that...Making it nearer 3,100 total.

Why do you want to know anyway, there not exactly scarce ?

    Argento,

The reason was simply curiosity. But it still somewhat interesting that although you know the #'s on the 550's etc. there still is no certainty
as to a source for the 575.That is not a personal critiscism, I just can't figure out why there is no way to find the actual production run.Even if it's in the 2500 range as you seem to think that's in a 6 year span.I mean Chevrolet
produces 60,000 Corvettes a year.So scarce to what ?.Why do you think
Maranello would tell me 5700 if it were not true? Thanks for your help and input.

I went through this exercise with the numbers given by Montezemolo in an interview. I came up with 1980 coupes and 599 SA's. The 575M was not a big seller but 1980 seems low.

    Michael,

I hope I didn't come over as fractious?, Just trying to understand...Most people who want to know production numbers do so to determine rarity of their cars, truth is, none of the "normal" modern production cars post 1980, (let's not forget that's over 25 years ago), can really be considered rare, Even the so called Ltd Editions, probably with the exception of the 33 x 550 WSR's, which is not significantly different from a well spec'd std 550 of the same era, so that it makes a huge amount of difference in price...Buying or selling!
The knowledge behind the number's that Cavallino publish is Keith Bluemel, I'll e-mail him to see if he has a definitive figure for 575M production.

They state that the Barchetta has at least 12 prototypes, P01-P12:

The list also states the 550B PFs by serial number

Listings are only for the 550B PF.
Do you try to catalog all 550/575s, will you be starting a Register?
    That would be so cool...

Yes, I started this 3 years ago, Not just for 550/575 but 456 too, I have well over 3500 car's already and it grows daily...But I could always do with help...?

As for a register, last time I tried, there wasn't much interest but I'm positive that this will change in the future....

FWIW, Chevy produces about 35,000 Corvettes a year, sometimes a few thousand more, sometimes a few thousand fewer.
