I am looking for a red/tan 575 with F1. After reading reviews in several articles, I note that the early 2002/2003 575 was criticised for its relatively floaty ride characteristics. A couple of articles seemed to allude to a possible fix carried out mid way through the production run. Any insight as to if this is true and when this might have been corrected would be appreciated.

Also, I am looking at a 2003 with the Fiorano Handling package, but the asking price is considerably more than other 2003s I have seen. How much better does the FHP make the driving dynamics?

Finally, if anyone know of a 575GTC for sale in the U.S., I would be interested in pursuing that.

Thanks very much in advance for any thoughts!

The 575 suspension, ( known as Skyhook) was standard in US production cars from '02-'05 without change. The 'fix' for the sport driver was the optional Fiorano Handling Package which consisted of, lower ride height, stiffer front springs, stiffer rear springs, larger rear sway bar, rear sway bar bushings, suspension ECU, steering ECU, special front and rear brake pads.

Locating a '05, (the only MY avail. in the US) 575 w/GTC Package is a needle in a haystack but would certainly be my choice.

How difficult (and expensive)would a retro-fit to Fiorano specs be?

    Retrofit would be about $10k

An FHP does not command that premium, so cheaper to get one already with it.

Hi, I just got lucky and purchased a 2005 GTC 6speed manual w/2800 miles last week and it is SPECTACULAR!! I can't comment on whether this suspension is that much different from the original not having driven one before, however, I will be taking this to the track in May/June to try it out to see what it will do. I can tell you that it goes and stops REAL FAST! I still have my Mondial t 348 Cab and I can now tell you that an extra 200 ponies is glorious. This is the first car I've had that I don't go driving with my foot planted in the firewall. Incredible torque band. Unfortunately it snowed the other day so I'm grounded again.

I agree that the Fiorano aftermarket is about 10K and the CC Brembo/Ferrari brakes is about 13K uninstalled.

I also spent much research into retro fitting vs. purchasing one with all installed and I also agree that it is cheaper to purchase with factory installed components and I believe that it will help when resale time comes (if ever).

    Good Luck on your search.

Can you provide details about what you found out regarding the possible aftermarket retrofitment on the CC brakes?? Specifically, will a dealer sell and install them? I asked a saleman at one dealer where I am looking at a 575 with FHP who indicated that the factory would frown on changing the brakes for CC and he felt it wasn't possible. Any insight you might have to the contrary would be helpful. Thanks.

No problem, I'll find the website that advertises the brake package. As for installation, there are shops which specialize in exotic mods and often they know better when it comes to some things. I deal with ZR auto in Calgary Canada and they do various upgrades to lambos, ferraris, astons etc. Not cheap mods but outstanding performance.

Car comes out of detail today I believe and I'll post pics as soon as it is. The sun has been out and the recent snow melted, so I'm hoping.

Thank you for the replies. I pulled the trigger and placed a deposit on a 2003 Red/Tan 575F1 with FHP, Carbon fiber Interior, Large racing seats, Satellite navigation and leather rear shelf, with brand new Pirellis, pressure sensors and Major service with belts to be done prior to delivery. Car is at FOCF. have not seen it in person, but High Resolution photos sent make me blieve the car is pristine. Has 12,000 miles. Looking forward to driving it.

Ooooooooohhhh! Nice, Mark! Sounds like a great car, with all options on. If the dealer is reputable then buying off the photos is not necessarily a problem. I did it with my 550.

So you've got pics - post 'em!

    Big congrats to you!

Nothing like realizing you're actually driving it until you find yourself cruising your favorite road and saying "hmmm... THIS is euphoric!" It's an entirely new level of understanding. I've found that people smile to themselves (alone in the car) when it finally hits. Ahhh I love it!!!!

    Sincerely,
    Joe

PS Don't take traction control off any time soon :)

    +10!

But also - don't trust the traction control in the wet. It can be pretty slow to engage, at least in my 550. Your 575's should be better but it's smart to be safe.
