Out and about in my 575 yesterday, two things: 1) The central locking locks, and then unlocks by itself a second later. Consistent whether I use the fob or the key in the locks. What does this mean and can it be reset? I have used 2 different keys/fobs recently, could that have been the cause? The alarm works - when you 'lock' it, it unlocks, but if you open a door, the alarm goes off. It's not a desperate issue as the car is in a locked garage, but any answers appreciated. 2) On one part of my 3-leg journey, the engine started and continued to run on 6 cylinders, one bank only, it felt like. No warning lights, all readings ok, no other signs. I switched off after a couple of miles, switched on again, and it was fine again. Immediately before this, I was showing the car to a friend, who gave the car a few revs in neutral (not much - maybe 3000) to hear the engine, I can't possibly imagine this had anything to do with it, but otherwise nothing at all out of the ordinary. The engine was warmed through by this stage and when the issue happened. Last leg, it was fine again, but what could have caused this?
Hi darius, I had exactly the same door lock issue. My mechanic was able to fix it without parts, bybre lubricating and adjusting the mechanisms inside the door, he did the other door as well just to make sure. Cheers Marcel
Darius, re no.2, It is not uncommon for temporary issues to pop up with the electronics in theses cars. Particularly if the battery has been recently recycled and the start up procedures have been shortcut for some reason. In the meantime, the double start procedure mentioned in the thread below gets you home. If the mentioned event continues to happen you will likely be headed down this road, http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/456-550-575-sponsored-bradan/482873-575m-rough-start-cure.html And regarding this, I would start with an inspection of the intake gaskets first. Darius- Number one: common on most late Ferraris when the linkage is just slightly out of adjustment. Will require removing the door card/panel to remedy, but your tech should be able to adjust and lubricate it in a half hour or so, like Marce said. Number two: slightly low batteries cause all kinds of problems that seem just random. Might be worth checking and making sure the ground strap is tight and not corroded, too.
Thank you, Marcel, Bill and Taz. Sounds like a simple fix for number 1. Will look at ground strap - and hopefully number 2 won't recur - car just needs to be taken on another long run, it sounds like.
