can somebody tell me what the different variations of the 575 are/will be by the time they finish using the last bodies stacked up at maranello?

there is the 575 manual and f1
    there is the super america

but are there other ones with better engine/suspension/brake packages?

sorry to be so lame (for a tifosi) on this subject, but the 575 is not one i have followed too closely.

The SuperAmierca, in addition to being a quasi convertible, also has 540 bhp (incorporates changes used in the 612 Scag) compared to the rest of the 575 series having "only" 515. They also had the GTC option (which I think was about $25,000) which had stiffer springs, thicker anti-roll bars, bigger tires/wheels (modular) and carbon fiber brakes.

For the 575 you can get either the Fiorano Handling Package or the GTC package. But these are merely options, not separate models.

ok, so the 550 had 480hp and the 575 has 515, and the superamerica has 540.....well thats quite an increase then.
what is the difference between the fiorano handling package and the standard package?

Gotta remember the Super Americana weighs more. When all is said and done I think it's about the same acc/topspeed. I suspect that's why it has more power - to be able to match the coupe's performance.

According to the factory, it's only 140 lbs. I think the power increase is to make the car even more exclusive as they are only making 599 of them.

It's about +4-5% on both weight and power. Which also explains that the posted numbers for acceleration is the same at 4.2 to 62mph. -3mph topspeed for the SA, though... :)

As I understand it when they introduced the 575 they softened the suspension compared with the 550's standard settings. The result was reputedly not nice unless you just want to cruise a boulevard. Thus, over here most 575s have the optional FHP fitted to bring the suspension and handling back to something approaching the 550. A number of people have told me that the 550 standard suspension package still gives better ride/handling than 575s with the FHP.

BTW you could buy a FHP for the 550 but the view is that it is unnecessary. As an owner of a 550 without the FHP option I can tell you that it handles and rides very well indeed.

I've had both a 550 without FHP and a 575 with FHP... while I've only had the 575 a month, I'd say the handling and ride is far better than my 550. Difference in steering feel is amazing.

Not to change the topic, but does anyone know when the Superamerica will start showing up on the streets. I asked in the SA sticky, but got no response. Is it still TBA?
