Hi all. Anyone know if the 575M and 612 front coolant radiators are interchangeable?

    I have a 2003 575M and need a new Radiator (#171772). £4200
Could get a 612 new Radiator (#194142) at lower cost. £3200

both look the same. But you know how these things work. they could be identical with different part # or totally different.

Or if anyone knows some who can make one for a reasonable cost?

    thanks

    Matt

    1) 575M Rad

    2) 612 Rad

The mounting brankets and drain plug appear to be slightly different. The real issue is the outside dimensions. Can you get measurements of both to check?
Do you absolutely need a new one? A good radiator shop should be able to repair/recore your existing radiator.

You seem to be in the UK but no hint as to where - there used to be a good radiator shop near Heathrow but surely any good indie should have a tame repair place - Google suggests Serck Motorsport near Heathrow but that's not who I had in mind - in the UK section Aaron Radiators get mentioned

Difficult to find the like for like dimensions. Looking online, seems the 575M could be slightly smaller.

I could go for a repair, but sometimes out here in Qatar its hit and miss as ‘everyone’ can do radiator repairs if you ask them.

And as the rad is 22 years old, it may fail elsewhere if this gets a repair, especially next summer in 50+C heat.

Although I am not going to pay those £££, even aftermarket rads seem to be 25% difference in price. I guess there are more 612s than 575m so demand is less.

    weep/leaks are both bottom corners.

I believe this is a common failure on the 575M (and other front V12 era models?). Everything packed in tight and the heat in the engine bay is intense.

I have a vintage V-12 and had the radiator recored many years ago. The solder joints at the bottom developed a few very small weeps. I added a bottle of Prestone Stop Leak to the coolant system, and it stopped all the leaks. I've never drained the coolant since then. Every few years I have added a bottle of Prestone Anti-Rust and Water Pump Lubricant. I just checked; this product is discontinued, but other brands are still being sold today.

I know there is a concern with these products that can clog the cooling sysyem, but that was not my experience. I have to believe that Prestone would not market a product that would cause significant problems to the cooling system.
