Could someone that has a 575M (mines a 04) run out to the garage and fire it up, leave it at idle and tell me if your valves are open or closed? I am having a disagreement with the folks at Capristo. My factory ones have the valves closed when disconnected or at idle. Capristo is the exact opposite. Hummm. Of course this would also mean that the 575 valve system works different than the one on my 430 which is closed at idle and opens at high revs. (low vacuum) HELP
I wasn't aware the the 575 exhaust system had vacuum actuated bypass valves. Mine has Tubi's but I didn't see valves on the stock muffler. I have seen the exhaust on 575, SA, 360 430, 599, and the bypass valve system, when present is pretty obvious. I am curious about the answer from an expert, also. Steve
The bypass valves change over design from 550 to 575 I think.. and it's the same thing with 355/360.. on a 355 or 550, disconnecting the vacuum will make the valves stay closed all the time.. on a 575 or 360.. disconnecting the vac lines will make them open all the time...( I know this for sure on 360... need to confirm on 575, but I THINK thats right) If you do disconnect the vac lines, you MUST plug them with a bolt or something.. the vac leak will make your reservoir lose vac and you'll lose your inlet manifold variation at full throttle (low vac conditions)
Sorry I dont know about if disconnecting hoses will cause valve to open or close; I have tubis now which does not have valves. Pic of stock 575m at idle and warmed up, valve is closed. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The query is more about what disconnecting the vac lines actually does, rather than what the car does at idle.. they ALL "should" have their valves colsed at idle...
Thanks, this simply means it works backwords of the 430 and there must be some sort of vacuum pump other than the engine that opens the valves at higher RPM. If anyone buys a Capristo 2 stage system, make sure you tell them this otherwise you will get the "normal style". Again, thanks.
