575M headlight assembly (dipped lights)

Does anyone have a clue as to what would cause the lense in front of the small dipped lights in the top of both headlight assemblies to fall or be pulled back into the bulb cavity? Better yet, any ideas on how to reset them? If it is possible, it's got to be tricky with the assemblies being sealed. Any insight would be appreaciated.

 

I was just thinking, the previous owner was a bit eccentric. I've read here that some felt these lights were not bright enough. Maybe the previous owner had the lense pulled down to increase brightness. Just a thought. Would that make any sense? I Can't contact him to ask.
