    Hi,

I have a 2002 575M and was just told I have a leaking left front shock and the price to replace one shock was about $4,000. Maybe a little less. I was distracted by trying to get my chin off the floor while trying to wrap my head around this repair.

Does anyone here have a suggestion on what to do for this? Is there a parts manufacturer that can get a better price? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have it rebuilt at Delta Vee.

When Dan at Bradan replaced my 550 fronts (both, as I believe you must do them in pairs) he had Delta Vee conduct the rebuild. Great success.

So far, nobody has been able to rebuild 575 Sachs shocks.

As an alternative if Delta Vee's backlog is too deep: Performance Shock in Sonoma, CA. I don't know if they rebuild Sachs units.

Their turnaround is super fast, though do your research first for it seems Delta Vee's rebuilds might be better engineered.

So the 575 front shocks are different from the 550, Taz? Never knew that. Thanks. Frank

IMO many of these 575 left front shock leaks are misdiagnosed power steering reservoir hose leaks.
There is a hose coming from the PS reservoir that one would think would not leak, but does. It trickles down to the shock and then down the shock looking like the shock is leaking.
In my case 2002 575, while working under the car I noticed this on my shock, thinking the worst. After some reading on this forum someone mentioned this possibility. Looked around beneath the reservoir and noticed oil seeping and followed it down, sure enough into the upper shock mounting area. Replaced this relatively inexpensive piece and life is good.

I figured Delta Vee would be able to rebuild as Performance Shock seems to be able to.

From the Performance website - "We are Officially Authorized and Certified by ZF Sachs to sell, repair, modify, rebuild and re-valve their shocks to factory specifications and requirements using only OEM parts"

That said, I don't know about the 575 shocks specifically.

I have used both DeltaVee and PSI sonoma. PSI does many raceshocks for us. If they say they can rebuild the sachs shocks either will do a good job. PSI has a huge depth of what they can do because they work with so many different shocks many adjustable for racing. I only know DeltaVee for Ferrari stuff and Rob did a great job on his re-engineering of my 348 racecar set-up.

As a two time 550 owner I'm not familiar with 575 suspension but not impressed with Ferrari's compromises. I don't think others are either and hence the controversy about porpoising, adding sway bars, and FHP suspension spring rates etc. I ultimately went with my own math derived spring rates and PSI's custom valving of my moton double adjustable shocks to all the parameters of the 550's suspension. Motons will set you back 5k for the set of 4 and you can rebuild them all day and be adjustable way outside what Ferrari allows but you will loose the automatically adjustable shock ferrari provides. IMO the range on the 550 anyway is so narrow it isn't worth it so I removed them.

Please let us know if they can be rebuilt. I have a spare set from when I replaced mine with the HGTC shocks.
