I've just gotten a 2002 575M several weeks ago. I came back from a drive today, temperature in the 40's, and the radiator fan came on when I shut off the car. OK, I've had cars do that. An hour later, the car is cold and the fan is still on. I disconnect the battery to shut it off. When I reconnect the battery, the fan goes back on. I assume that it's a thermostatic switch that is stuck on somewhere.
Any suggestions before I have to go to the dealer?
    Any help is appreciated.

Ok so no response on this so My guess is there is a relay that controls the fans that has arc-welded contacts. You should be able to check the owners manual for fuse/relay locations to locate the bad relay. A good test is to switch the relay with the other side cooling fan to verify. My experience has been that thermostats last for decades. Sometimes the process of switching the relays causes the contact to unstick so you might just replace the relay anyway. Good luck.
