Ok so I'm a nut with too much time on his hands. I like knowing how many other cars that I own were sold here in the US. It takes quite a while and a lot of research. I check all the sources I can think of including CarFax, Ferrari NA, registery sites, etc. I was able to come up with the number for my 400i. Just in case you're interested that total is 375 US cars for the 400/400i/412 series. Its taken me a while but I believe I'm very accurate in saying that after compiling the info I have a spreadsheet that tallys up the Dino 308 GT4's originally sold in the US and that number is 595. I found 13 of the 208 version. If you know of a serial number that has been totaled, parted out, burned, etc. I'd sure appreciate it so I can update my file.
Very cool... You must have the burned up red car that's been on eBay recently, right? Mine is 14768. The GT4 registry lists mine as built in 1978, but my doorjam plate says March 1979...
Phil, the guy who sold the car (it just sold on eBay) will give me the number if I call him again in the morning. So I'll try to provide it tomorrow.
Does anyone know how many 308 GTS's there are in the states? Mine is an '85. I know there were around 8000 GTS's built from 78 to 85 and about 4000 GTB's but how many made it to the states? Paul
No David I don't. My next quest is to come up with that number. It may take a while. Later today I'll post the numbers by state.
Here they are... The states with the most GT4's Calif = 207 Penn = 36 Nevada = 35 NY = 31 Georiga = 30 Florida = 29 Conn = 20 Texas = 19
Dave You got me? #14628 up here in WA. state? Seems like I saw about 5 listed in the Seattle area in the FCA members book. Not sure how many in OR. This is a great thread. Ive emailed the Ferrari chassis dept to see how many GT/4's came with the rear seats deleted and a luggage deck instead like mine. Do you have any info on that sort of thing? Cheers! DT
Yep, have you on the list. 12/78 production, right? Engine #932. I show a total of 13 in Washington. No info on seat deletes, sorry.
How about #10688? I've got photos of the chassis number, engine number, etc. at http://photos.yahoo.com/drtoxicologist Dom
08140 according to my list is the very first GT4 to enter the US. Have you on there Blaine You're on there Dom
The burnt GT4 is s/n #10394 Features the luggage shelf instead of the rear seats. First owner unknown. From 1984 to 1985, was owned by Mr. T. P. of Manhattan Beach, California, U.S.A. Offered for sale in 1986 by "Tillack & Company", of Harbour City, California. Offered for sale and sold on eBay, in March 2006, after the car had been burnt in a fire while undergoing a restoration. Fire was contained to the rear, passenger's side quarter panel and around the engine-bay opening. Re-listed on eBay in July, 2006. (details are from www.dino-gt4-registry.com)
Looks like there were 34 delivered to Canada with 12 of those being in Ontario. I just did the count and find it interesting that England had 431 GT4's
The 208GT4 was an "Italy only" model never sold in the US. The few that are here were brought in individually. The only thing that I have on 09688 is that it was for sale in Texas in 2002.
