Saturday morning. Dead battery. Actually discovered last night. Overnight batter conditioner trickle charge did not work 2099 599 GTB. Think I finally found positive pole which I hope is the tallest on left hand side. Already disconnected battery from system as I was scared to jump start it. Do you guys think this will work? Should I reconnect system and attempt a jump start? 60 degrees in December. Would like to go for a ride tomorrow

Check in the 599 section for many previous battery threads but I suspect the recommendation will be to buy new as its almost certainly the original

Personally I would never jump start a Ferrari. I could be wrong and modern Ferraris may be OK with it but I am uncomfortable with the downside seeming very great. In addition, once started there will be a heavy current draw on the alternator and wiring that taxes your system unecessasarily. Electrical spikes kill.

I would disconnect the battery and replace it. If you must charge it then isolate it from the car wiring and put it on a 5Amp charger over night then re-connect if you absolutley must drive it tomorrow. Best is always topped off. I'm not sure of your compartment vents or battery type but gas might be a concern.

On a side, why should you need to find the positive pole for a trickle charger? Are you using the OEM factory charging port to attach it?

Not using the tickle charge. Charging it inside car while disconnect switch has been activated. I agree with you. No way gonna jump start it. May go out in an hour or so and see if battery is accepting charge. If it needs a new battery which would you recommend.

This is normal response when the battery voltage is too low, you need more charging time then get a Battery maintainer on it through desulphation stage.
You may want to put a voltmeter on it and see how close to 13.7V it is, which i believe to be standard charging cutoff level

Toby- I answered some of your questions in the 599 section, including advising against start attempts with a low battery. After the battery is fully charged with a full size charger, she should be OK. If not, replace the battery.

Do not understand why you would not buy a new battery. Once they go flat, I doubt it will ever be fully up to par. Suggest that you buy a new AGM battery, charge it and then install in the car. When not driven use the maintainer.
