Who inside Pinninfarina is responsible for the 599?
Well, It's all we can hope for in this day and age, and better than anything they've produced in awhile. IMO.
i've seen my first 599 2 weecks ago here in Italy i have seen plenty of italian exotics: i love most lamborghinis and a lot of Ferrari, to me the 599 design is nothing special, better than the uglisssimo 612, but even the 550 has a more appealing look to me not plain ugly but nothing really beautiful or new p.s. the 355 is the last beautiful F for me and the Enzo the only amazing design by Ferrari in last 10 years for me p.p.s. i really love 60's Ferrari , 275 GTB, Daytona, BB and F40 but the new generation design don't work for me
Thanks for going explaining that a bit better. I'm suprized you don't like it if you like 60's Fcars the 599 imo recaptures alot of that essence. Hyundai copied the 456 for their coupe and did a good job, but I don't expect it to be mistaken for a 599, or vice versa.
Yes the 550/575 was definetaley better looking than the 599 I prefer a C6 Z06 over the 599 I do like the 430 spyder though, Nicer than the 360 so at least that got better 430 vs 355 ? Theres a new thread question. I like both
Gezz I disagree with you on every opinion. Guess that's what this is all about. In any case a Ferrari and a Hundhai..... (yeah I hope I did misspell it). should not be discussed in the same breath.
I was pretty shocked to hear him switch from Italian to speaking to me in perfect English. Nice guy, and very respectful. Peter Hatch
The Pininfarina web site are graciously offering a .pdf of the 599 styling analysis by Japanese magazine Car Styling: http://www.pininfarina.it/repository/Approfondimenti/Ferrari599/Ferrari%20599%20GTB%20Fiorano%20Car%20Styling_31-07-2006.pdf. Very good article and you can see it is not design by committee. Considering they had to maintain the windshield and A-pillars from the 612 and how large the car is, they did a great job. Although some of the early sketches were quite intersting (very GTO), they did not translate very well to full size scale models. No mention of why they went to a two-tailight design...
Bit late to this thread. Just want to comment that having seen the original design which someone thumbed down a bit, and having recently driven the car, it is and looks amazing. It's a great design plain and simple. Besides the 599, Jason is responsible for the Birdcage 75th, the Kalikow 612 Kappa, the P4/5 and the upcoming Maserati coupe. Anyone who thinks this guy is anything but the best designer in a generation is just blind, stupid or both.
Yes, LA Design school, I think its called the Art Center School, something like that. Same place as Ken Okuyama. Both are just really great people.
