Anyone know where I can get the measurements and bolt pattern details for a 599 motor?

I’m looking for the engine coupling dimensions that bolts to the torque tube housing.

    Thinking of a custom project.

    Thanks in advance

Had a look in the workshop manual, but I don’t see any diagrams showing the bellhousijg bolt pattern.

Tell us more about this project though!

At this point it’s just an idea. The engine bolt pattern on a 599 and the gearbox from a 430 looks the same. However, I can’t confirm until I get them measured.

The idea for a project is to use that powertrain in a P3/4 replica as the components are pretty bulletproof and reasonably available. I see lots of salvage yards with ready parts.

As I said, just an idea at this point.

Yeah, from looking at some photos of engines on eBay, I can see that the bolt patterns more or less look the same.

Anyone got a spare 599 engine or bellhousing sitting around who can stencil out the bolt pattern? Be an easy enough job if someone is getting a clutch job sometime soon.

There might be someone I can ask actually...

I was thinking the same, it would be an easy stencil.

Fabulous if you come up with a solution!

I found someone who said that they will try to get me a stencil of a 430 box, so now just need a 599 motor

Great idea! If not, Harry at eurospares has agreed to trace out a 599 bet housing they have in stock.

Just curious! Where would you source the P3/4 body and chassis? These P3/4 cars are much rarer than the 250 GTO Series I or II or the later 330 LMB (half 250 GTO / half 250 GT Lusso) of which only four exist; that is, unless you've got $50-70M in spare change rattling around in your pockets!.

That "P" car design (adopted from Mauro Forghieiri's earlier 250P) is the most beautiful Ferrari ever made and raced, as is the P4 version and its sister 412P (customer cars). I just can't get enough of the Petrolicious video of Nick Longhi having been given the rare privilege of driving a P4 on a track for evaluation. Its 330 V-12's music is the classic "ripping silk" sound!

Such experiences are what dreams are made of! ;)

It would be a replica body. There are a couple around other than Norwood.

I agree that this would be a dream fulfilled.

I saw one that was decent a while ago, and didn’t buy it, and it went to Dubai. There was another sold with a Chevy engine and GT3 gearbox a few months ago.

That got me thinking about using modern Ferrari parts in a replica roller. If a V12, why not a 599 motor as Norwood uses a 575 engine. If the 430 box bolts to a 599, then we possibly have the beginning of something interesting.

In spite of Shiv’s claims, I’m just a working guy who can tinker in his garage to pass the time.

If there was 70M in coin floating around, I’d just go buy a crashed 599 and 430 and the roller and build it myself for kicks.

Being a working stiff means asking a few questions before spending the money and getting killed by the wife

Lots of decent replicas of the P3/4. RCR for one makes a decent replica.

    I will try.

The cardboard trace would still be a godsend, as I could test it on a 599 motor directly.

Happy to send you the FedEx account

The tracing went out in the mail today. You should have it later this week I would think.

The dimples were made with fairly well-fitting transfer punches so they should be reasonably centered. The free-hand drawn circles are just dimple location finders. I traced the bell-housing on a file-folder. The tape measure was placed in the middle only to hold the file-folder flat for the photo.

Good luck with your project. I hope the idea works out!
