Does anyone know the price for the Enzo steering wheel on the 599?
The price quoted for the LEDS steering wheel is better than expected. One of the journalists who drove the 599 at Fiorano told me the price would likely be in the $5,000USD range... horse fan
When you are speccing out a car with a base MSRP in the $250K range, the price of the options somehow seem reasonable. It's like Vegas, where casino chips are much easier to spend than real money.
Agree the sw is a must have. Also feel that way about the ccbs and challenge style wheels - once you admit to yourself that the ccbs are really about appearance, not performance, it's an easy option to select ....
The options I don't consider necessary are the rear luggage shelf in leather (it causes undue reflection in the rearview mirror), any kind of upgraded stereo, and the basically useless Nav system (a TomTom or Garmin anything is infinitely superior). Everything else is kinda cool, and really, in the grand scheme of things relative to the base cost of the 599, financially inconsequential. I don't consider the GTC package optional, rather absoutely neccesary in a car of this caliber and the the 20 inch wheels are simply the right wheels for the car. I personally like shields on a dark car, but on a light car like a titanium or silver, I might pass on the shields. Painting the calipers is a nice touch and I like a yellow rev counter over the red. The Enzo steering wheel is also perfect for the car, and in this iteration the F1 Superfast is reportedly better than the Enzo's, so I would take an F1 tranny over a stick.
I think the Challenge Wheels (20') are an absolute necessity as well just because they also look so much nicer than the stock star wheels. Is the GTC handling pack already available? One thing I notice in all the magazines is the race type buckets with Daytona Inserts, are those the standard seats or is there a more 430 type Daytona Seat available?
There is a standard, electric seat seat available. The racing type seat has only manual adjustments. In this car I prefer the standard seat with electric adjustment. The GTC package was offered from the begining with this car. Ferrari obviously has learned a couple of things in the past couple of years about the kind of options that really "become" standard because almost everybody wants them.
"One thing I notice in all the magazines is the race type buckets with Daytona Inserts, are those the standard seats or is there a more 430 type Daytona Seat available?" It was indeed difficult to find an interior photo showing anything other than the racing seats. I requested Daytonas - we'll see. I like the full leather interior - the ability to do an interior to sketch is an invitation to tinker. Would add the F1 to the must have list - I just can't see this car in a manual. I was a little disappointed not to be able to get a spare with the 20" wheels - but that's not a must have IMO. I completely agree w/410SA about the nav system and upgraded stereo.
Thats a good take on CCBs. The only thing that puts me off is the brake feel of the CCBs when cold. Once youve been on the road using them they tend to get better. I will be ordering my 599 next spring or so.I will defenitely get the Enzo wheel but the jury is still out on the CCBs.
Whats your source on the GTC package? According to my dealer (and the option list) there is no GTC package listed for the 599GTB - and not one on the horizon immediatly either.
I ordered it from my dealer. Perhaps it is a US option at this time? The primary component is the carbon brakes and the Euro cars have those as a line item option.
Strange, ordered carbon brakes as a stand alone option not as part of the package. No packages offered anyway....
Might someone simply be referring to the upgraded wheels and ccbs as a GTC package? I've also not seen any packages available.
You are allowed one guess. If you are incorrect you are condemned to have a baby blue Enzo as your screensaver for ever.
Black/black. With: shields, yellow calipers, carbon ceramic brakes, yellow tachometer, Enzo steering wheel, carbon fiber interior trim, Daytona sport seats.
