Probably Silverstone/Cuoio with F1. I do not want the carbon trim option which probably deletes the fancy steering wheel with shift lights, but a regular steering wheel is fine with me. Regular iron brakes and Im undecided about the wheels but am leaning towards challenge wheels. We are going to the factory in Sept. to look at colors and interiors and take in the F1 test day at Mugello. Since mine will be one of the first cars in the States I will not have an opportunity to see the colors in the flesh before ordering, hence the Italy trip.
Don't know if this has been posted but: http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=9&article_id=3478 Page also has a nice mp3 of the engine reving. -F
Hearing the engine revving made me realize the Enzo really does make an awful lot of noise rather than sound, whereas the 599 GTB produces MUSIC!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!! Thank you for the review
Very interesting to note that the Edmunds article refers to Jean-Jacques His as the Ferrari Powertrain Director. His used to work with Renault Sport on the F1 team and fathered the wideangle V10 which wasn't very reliable or powerful - consequently he was forced out of Renault a few years back.
Edmund's never says anything worthwhile about sports cars. "It handles really well and it's really fast", is about all any of their reviews ever say. Road and Track isn't much better. We'll have to wait for the British mags to say something worthwhile and insightful. And eventually real reviews from people who have driven the car. Forza, Cavaleer
Yeah, but he loves Ferrari. It's what everyone here wants to hear... including me! I can't wait for his review either. Plus it means I get to a) see it in action b) hear it in action!
http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,12929-2166904,00.html here's a review from UK newspaper. Jeremy is also a columnist of this newspaper, but no, this is not his review
"IT'S BRILLIANT! THERE'S SO MUCH POWER! Right through the hammerhead now." -Jeremy Clarkson That's all he ever says but that's what makes me want to watch him.
My dealer, Auto Gallery, told me a few months ago there's no list for buyers, the price is still unknown and no orders are being taken. Would love to know what it takes to order a 599? I'm ready ...... cash in hand. If you don't mind telling me these things, what price were you quoted for yours, when did you order yours? Or do you think Auto Gallery doesn't want to deal with me because I haven't bought a ton of cars from them?
i bet he'll say "It's absolutely astonishing!" I still have his review of the CS and F430 running in my mind..
Clarkson's Ferrari bias is no different than all the other auto journalists. They all have their bias, such as the Evo guys for anything Porsche. A few years ago Evo had the gall to rate the GT2 over the Stradale for their COTY award, after rating the Stradale superior to the same GT2 in just about all categories in their previous and more complete comparison. So much for objectivity!
Thanks for the link. That's the second time I've read that about the overly intrusive nanny-controls. Disappointing. We'll see if Ferrari is listening or if they ignore these early press gripes the way they did on the 575 at first. Hopefully they'll listen because that is the point of every Ferrari- that you can always turn all the electronics off and simply enjoy a superb car. They could even offer 599 specific driving lessons to owners who want to be able to turn off the gadgets. Forza, Cavallini
"Ferrari claims that around corners, F1 Trac is so sophisticated that it allows drivers to generate 20 per cent more lateral grip than they would have with a typical traction-control system - and only fractionally less than what an expert race driver would be able to achieve without help." Ill settle for being only fractionally slower than Massa or Schumacher
The complaint is regarding the "race " mode, there is still the "cst" mode when you can completely disarm the "nannies".
