Hi Guys ! This is my first message here, I would have prefered it to be like a presentation of the car but unfortunately this is for a technical problem... I have a 599 TGB since a week. A first hand car purchased at an Italian Official Ferrari dealer, with the Power Cube warranty. It's rosso Corsa, F1 gear box, 20" rims, full black leather with red stitching, full carbone interior etc etc. A fantastic car ! Today I was driving and then suddenly the gear box went to neutral and the engine sign turned on. I stoped the car, started the engine again. This sign is still on but the car behaves normaly. Nothing special. Back home I did a reset of the battery by turning the red thing linked to the battery in the trunk, waiting 10 seconds and put back the red thing at the right place. I had to enter the radio code (which means that the battery as really been cut off). I've started the engine but the sign remains. Today all the Ferrari dealers are closed because this is a bank holliday. If any of you got somethig to help me I would be really grateful !! I really hope this is nothing but who knows ... I've searched in this forum before posting, to see if it happened to anybody, but couldn't find anything ... On my Porsche this sign is allways on because I've replaced the exhaust by a stainless steel one, but here I'm affraid this is not linked to an exhaust problem ... Thanks for your help !!
Welcome! and congrats... It means your engine has 'thrown a code" into the computer, a dealer or a shop with a reader can tell you what it means. Resetting the battery has probably restored the computer but the code remains so they can see what it was... Others that know more will post below soon.
Two thoughts : One on reset did you wait the 60 seconds for it to relearn (see manual) Two if its like the 575 the reset should turn the light off if its just an secondary emission issue - as noted above this suggests a trip to a dealer to hook up to their computer under warranty when they re-open
Hi guys ! Thanks for your answers ! I actually haven't wait 60 seconds ... but 10 ... ! So I should do it again ! I've checked several things, engine off, in the menu on the screen (I finally changed the language from Italian to French ! It helps !). After a while, to see if things changed, I have started the engine again and then no more light on ! I'll take the car for a ride tomorrow and see if it appears again. If so, I'll do the reset correctly. If it appears again then I'll call the garage ... ! I just hope that it is a small "Italian caprice" !!!
The computer "wakes up and looks around" every time the car is started so maybe the fault cleared and no longer there... Definately getting talking YOUR language that would drive me crazy (unless it was a sultry female Italian voice or something) I have a new cell phone today so I'm doing much the same thing...LOL!
Hi Guys ! To let people know what happened on my case, the engine sign hasn't appeared anymore ! I've driven the car a lot this weekend without any problem or any warning. What I think is: as there was just a quarter tank full of petrol when the defect appeared, and as such cars do not like being pushed while the tank does not have a correct level, probably the defect was due to gas emission weakness on the exhaust ! This is the only explaination I could find for that !
Ahaha !!! Yeah actually it comes from an expression a mate I've met in San Diego back to 2001 used to say !!! But here in France, no body gets it !
