Hi Fellow 599 GTB owners. I have a 2007 599 GTB my car has the LED Lights inside the steering wheel. Any one knows when the lights inside should turn on. When you start the car mine lights inside are all off. When on drove off also led lights all off. Is there a switch to turn the led in side the steering wheel. thanks John
The lights are there to give you an idea out of the corner of your eye that you are approaching redline. So as you get closer to the redline more of the LEDs will light up- beginning on the left to the right. Its to make it so you don't have to focus on the tach needle, but rather focus at looking as far ahead as you can- and with this car, you should look far far far ahead!!
That steeering wheel is an expensive option! (Like $8K or so??) Congrats... As posted "the way it works" is to flag your revs close to redline, so it "should" start a little below that and I guess the last two LEDs are red?? Maybe a more knowledgable FChatter can chime in... there probably is a setting 'switch' in the software for on/off..
I'm not sure what you mean. The LED's don't activate and light below 6500 R's and then progressivly increase until you max out your current gear at 8500R's. The purpose the LED is to give you an idea of the best time to upshift to the next higher gear. Without having to take your eyes off the road during spirited driving to look down at your tach. If after upshifting your tach falls below 6500R's the LED shuts off and will not come back on until you hit the 6500 threshold again. Under most normal or city conditions you won't see the steering wheel light up at all.......Unless you want it to >)!
Surely they sequence thru upon start up, as a "bulb check"??? I agree if you aren't cruising around on the rev limiter, you might not see them much!
John, The first of the 5 leds start to light at 6K RPMs and go in increments of 500rpms up to the maximum speed of 8,400rpms when ALL 5 are lit. There is a way to deactivate/activate the lights too; Call up the vehicle settings menu and select "RPM repetition on the steering wheel" option. You can set this option on/off..Kevin Big Tex, The LED wheel was a $3,542.00 option..
Ahhh thanks!!!!! We had an out of place post last week asking about "RPM repetition" from a new owner (in Europe maybe) and no one could place what he meant.... NOW we know!!!!
thanks for all your reply's I will set my settings menu select "RPM repetition on the steering wheel" option. let me try this. Lets see if it works. I read the manuel 4-5 times. Lights are still not activating. If all else false I will have the car taken to the dealer. I am hitting around 3-5,00 rpms. Shifting to second requires a bit more RPM.
YOU HAVE TO hit 6K rpms before the first light comes on!!! When you punch it in 2-4th gears and light those lights you will really be having FUN!! Kevin
Just be careful when you see the 5th LED light when your in 6th gear. You'll really be humming down the road.
