Was the silver roof an option on the gtb? The only thing I was able to find in my search online was a toy car with a silver roof. (Found on www.car.gr, presumably a greek example) https://www.car.gr/25810226?utm_source=android-app&utm_medium=push-button&utm_campaign=facebook-shareSearchByUrl&utm_content=aggelia Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my MI 8 Lite using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Could be. Although the seller makes it seem like it's OEM... Sent from my MI 8 Lite using FerrariChat.com mobile app
There were a couple of factory 599 builds featuring a contrasting paint color for the roof. Here is a picture of the first example from January of 2008. Image Unavailable, Please Login This was on an official Ferrari display.
Here is the second factory paint 599 GTB that with the build specification of black with a silver roof and cuoio interior delivered in October 2008. The contrast color for the roof was an extra 20 thousand dollars for this factory option. The black with the silver roof was ordered specifically without the fender shields. The second 599 was also black but with a black interior. Fender shields were specified and red contrast stitching inside to plus black alcantara for the headliner. Both black 599 GTB's were Switzerland deliveries through Niki Hasler AG in Basel. I have to say that looks pretty sharp. @of2worlds - the contrast roof was more common on GTOs and Apertas? T
The 599 GTO that Dario drove was solid white with just a simple blue stripe. That was the GTO paint scheme Ferrari used for the April 2010 introduction. However the GTO press car for journalists to drive was red with the Grigio Opaco roof so that became the most popular version. The painted roof in a contrast color was not popular at all on the 599 GTB before the GTO version appeared.
I know the car your talking about, a friend was planning on buying it if factory documentation would confirm the two tone paint. He was unable to get any confirmation of that fact, so he passed.

Xavier thank you for sharing this amazing 599 wearing these very complimentary paint colors! I notice one curious detail for that wonderful 599 that you shared. Both of the factory build spec 599 models have the outside mirrors painted to match the roof color. Your friends 599 is the reverse with those mirrors painted instead in Canna di Fucile, the body color. Only the roof is Grigio Medio. It seems that only the European customers adopted the contrast color for the roof with no 599 GTB ordered elsewhere with this roof/body build specification...
You are right, I never paid attention to the mirrors, I don't know what is best, roof or body colour painted ??
Image Unavailable, Please Login In the side profile of the 599 if you put an imaginary straight edge parallel with the bottom of the side windows then the mirrors appear as part of the upper body color. When the mirror color matches the roof it appears to be a more harmonious style. The Ferrari factory 599 GTB show car also matched the mirror color with the roof color to. Ultimately it is simply a preference for one style over the other I suppose.
Hi there ! @Zaza posted à picture of my car. This car was ordered at l’Atelier in Maranello. 22K€ option for the roof in grigio Medio and the body in 2 strati Canna di Fucile. Interesting fact this exterior mirror stuff. https://zupimages.net/up/20/26/78g1.jpeg
Thanks, totally agree. If i picture my car with grigio medio exterior mirror i would don’t like what i see
I saw this two-tone 599 today in LA. Is there any record of an OEM factory Rosso Corsa car with a Nero roof? Note the Challenge wheels optioned as well. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice find there and a good catch at speed. However as the other factory version shown in post #4 here has their mirrors matching the roof color, that seems to be the Ferrari standard. If the mirrors don't match the roof color I doubt it was a factory effort. Also unlikely it would appear for the first time at this late date. Post #11 here shows the exception to this thinking but on the law of averages it is not a factory effort. For whatever reason it never caught on to do a dual tone style on the 599. Long ago the contrast roof color was thought to be more stylish. Even the LaFerrari coupe looked like something was missing when the black roof was not specified.
I have a 2011 HGTE 1of 1 from Ferrari Newport Beach that is factory white with black roof only -no mirrors or sails… So not so black and white (pun intended).
Not on the factory options lists, so likely you could get whatever you wanted as long as you were willing to pay. There were lots of "unofficial" options on the 575M, too.
Correction-my car has black roof AND mirrors-no sails; It’s been a long winter or I’m just getting old… Image Unavailable, Please Login
