Yes. This stunning/gorgeous/beautifull 599 GTO is the one that i've seen around Monaco. Probably the second most beautiful and amazingly configured 599 GTO on my list.
That would be a super interesting statistic to have. It's amazing how many yellow tdfs there are compared to the GTO.
From the moment the illicit pictures were taken on the grounds at the Ferrari factory the tri strato yellow has been seen as the launch color for the tdF. The launch color seems to have a strong influence on color choice with perhaps one third of the cars ordered in that color. I wonder if that photographer still got his tdF...
It seems like the limited edition cars is where the owners go all out with color choice and Tailor Made as the appreciation post purchase typically justifies the money spent. It could also be that the people being allocated these cars have a lot more disposable income than a typical buyer of a "normal" Ferrari. When the GTO came out, white was the color in vogue. Now it seems to be Blue and Silver. I think the TDF being disproportionately yellow has to do with the launch car being in that color and Tailor Made advisers suggesting it.
Was the launch yellow of the tdf a brand new yellow or already available on previous models? Is it the triple layer yellow?
It was available prior to the launch of the TDF. It is a tri layer paint and the name is Giallo Tri Strato.
The 458 Italia and later the Speciale A were both introduced in Paris with the beautiful Giallo Tri Strato paint color. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks guys. I'm surprised by the effect it has had but it does seem to suit the tdf lines very well. Back on topic, this one's livery is kind of interesting: https://www.instagram.com/p/BH11IUjAcdW/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BHplqMOgcXE/ Kind of reminds of the brown 250 GTO: https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/s320x320/e15/11881601_1484045221892483_1888689600_n.jpg
From my files, I have 49% red, 15% white, 14% black, 9% grey, 4% silver (including hstoric livery), 4% blue, 4% yellow, <1% green
Pretty rare stripe colour: https://www.instagram.com/p/BH6SUF9BKLo/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BICFpCZBVvv/ Doesn't change that epic sound though: https://www.instagram.com/p/BIFPVA3AbTs/ So much more brutal than the tdf.
The GTO NA sound with no SC, no TT, no electric or other hybridization is truly very special. Hard to believe that such a conservative looking "GT car" can sound like that. Still I wouldn't mind comparing the soundtrack of a TDF at full tilt to my GTO I don't believe that more HP automatically makes the TDF a better soundtrack in any way, shape or form. As an example, IMHO the GTO's lower HP engine sounds much better than the F12. That being said, maybe the engineers made the TDF soundtrack more "racecar" than GT car (ala GTO IMHO). Whatever the engineers did in "homologating" the 599XX powertrain to the GTO works pretty damn good. I'm sure someone on the board with seat time in both a GTO and TDF will chime in.
I think the GTO and TDF sounds aren't really comparable as they are different generations of technology. The GTO has that "tinny" top end noise of the enzo. The tdf sounds more open and synthesised more like the LaFerrari. The GTO sounds more mechanical and more gt race car while the tdf sounds more like the f1 sounds of the old v12s. The GTO sound comes from the 6 into one exhaust headers and elimination of the precats in the headers, allowed by improvements in catalyst technology. You can get a very similar sound from a GTB by swapping out the entire exhaust system, including the headers. A friend has done custom 6 into one headers and large 200 series cats on his 575M, with similar results for both sound and hp improvement.
Nelson your photographic skills are massively improving... there was already the last shot of the 458 SA and now this... Bravo !! I'm not sure if people know how rare it is to have colored carbon fiber and silver wheels on a GTO...
I don't recall seeing red carbon on any F car model before the GTO and don't recall seeing red carbon on any other GTO other than Nelsons'. Bit of a unicorn if you ask me at least for a GTO. Now red carbon appears more frequently on newer model F cars like the Speciale/SA, TDF, etc. I'd argue that all GTO's are keepers but imagine that the rarer specs will really be sought after years from now. My Porsche carbon bits never held up well long term and I wonder out loud how the F car carbon bits will fare many years from now (ie. delamination, loss of luster, etc.).
Thanks Oliver! I had a photoshoot done with the Aperta the other day. When I get the pictures it I will share them. It was inside a bubble basically. Ill post one after this which I took with my phone.
