Probably saved many more than 20, given the vagaries of shipping and auto transport--and the extra steps taken on delivering this car.

On the Sept/Oct deliveries, the word I heard was that ALL GTO's--including mine--were sent to NJ first for special inspection and prep before then being shipped, by special transport to your dealer for normal dealer prep and sale.

My guess is they are still running all of them through NJ given the importance to Ferrari of the GTO program.

Also, I wasn't "asked" about transport options, as Ferrari simply shipped much of the early Sept production to the US by air. Apparently they wanted to "hit" market in a big way by early Oct. I can tell you that it didn't cost me $11,500 however :); as you say, there may be some room for reasonable discussions between friends...

Interesting - it was a mandatory option on the 458, given that its Thanksgiving, I don't see 11K's worth of value in paying for it to be air freighted :)

My father in law lives in the keys, so might have to arrange for a winter vacay for the car...

Yes - stripe in blu and fuji for the body. The interior will be rosso leather. No technical cloth at all - didn't care for it when I saw the car at the quail.

Fuji with a blue livery and rosso inside will make a bold statement. Have you been able to confirm air or sea travel for transport? Makes it tough waiting when you don't know ...
    Thanks for sharing the details!

Thanks for the info! Ferrari sends customers a smaller version built to the identical spec (colors and options) as the car they have purchased.

Paul each day the Ferrari factory starts production of 30 new cars. MR Models receives the specifications once they are frozen for each of those automobiles. Usually in batches of the same model ie. 458 or California etc they build the 1/43 model identical to the build spec as supplied by Ferrari. Once the scale model is completed just like the real Ferrari it is shipped to the selling dealer. The dealer then delivers the scale model to his client. Generally the scale model arrives before the actual Ferrari.

Paul the Americans get the models of the Ferrari they buy to, it's not just for European customers. RickyN F355 mentioned receiving a model of his silver 458. Also Dan in Boston showed the picture below of his 458. Maybe he has his GTO 1/43 model already to...

Does that mean the real GTO is coming by plane and not by boat?
