In the BBR (modelcar) catalogue these two 599 GTOs are mentioned: - Ferrari 599 GTO Yellow /Red Stripe Livrea Racing - Ferrari 599 GTO Silver/ Yellow Stripe Any pictures on one of those?
What historical GTO is this scheme supposed to represent? Why don't they go ahead and put the number in the white circle? I can't find any info.
You put whatever number you like......you have the option of having it painted at the factory or placing a sticker number in the circle........most people I assume leave it blank so they can keep changing the number as and when needed.
I'm sorry, but I cannot STAND the color coded air vents. IMHO, it makes the car look very tacky...almost like a Hot Wheels. -G.B.
I share your feeling 100% but other than the color coded air vents those two GTO's look superb. The yellow one has some details (signed engine cover, black cavallino on fuel lid) like mine. Boy that yellow one certainly is an eye catcher
I did not find the real photos. It seems that this livery is the one of the victorious copy in the "Tour de France 1964". Image Unavailable, Please Login

First let me say that all the GTO's seen on this forum are really exceptional. BUT..... I just happen to feel that the GTO as a limited build ferrari. As well as being such a evolutionary cut above mechanically and engine wise from both the GTB and HGTE versions. That it should be allowed to make a more aggressive statement. After all, its basically a detuned 599 XX track car for the street and IMHO should follow a much more aggressive styling line. I personally have no desire for my GTO to be confused with the GTB or HGTE version and have spec'd mine accordingly. I prefer others to see me in their rear view mirrors and know that something very special is gaining on their six. While the GTO is more than capable of both track duty and taking my wife out to dinner. I rather save my GTO for the track and take my wife to dinner in the Benz. In the coming months, I'll be very curious to see how other U.S. cutomers have spec'd their new toys versus our European friends.
Thanks. I have an October build date and should have it before year end. Will post pics when I have it in my hands. Until then I'm like an expecting father who is not 100% sure how his child is going to look until its been born and he gets to finally see it in the flesh
Here's the one from Pebble Beach. More pics in high res in the gallery http://allisajayne.smugmug.com/Cars/Pebble-Beach/PebbleBeach2010/13369307_ExhKH#972175013_APceu Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
