A few people have asked for information on this. I haven't used it on track yet (Fiorano on 9 May will be its first such test) but here's what I've found so far using it on mountain passes.

You get a nice 599 GTO box with instructions and USB stick that plugs into the glovebox (gets a bit crowded if you also have your ipod connected but they assume you're not doing this often!). You also have a little 'REC' button on the central console between the seats which you press to start and press again to stop recording. The system writes .txt files onto the USB stick. The stick also contains the software, PC only it seems, which you can install and then use to see your data.

When you run it (Telemetria GTO) and import a txt file, it asks if the run was a closed road ie circuit or an open road, so that it can review the data and ascertain lap times etc. Also asks about road conditions. Once loaded, there are 4 basic views of the data and I've included screen shots below.

    1. Track your drive on the map, shows key data you'd see if you were driving the car - speed, rpm, VRE

    2. Graph up to 4 channels from a selection of about a dozen or so (shown on the left of the screenshot), stepping through lap by lap, with all channels superimposed on the same graph. You can also add a bar graph of your lap times/speeds

    3. Another graphing option, essentially same as (2) but with the 4 channels shown on their own axes

    4. Final graphing option, to me most useful, is to compare two graphs of up to 4 channels each - to compare two different laps side by side

It would be nice if option (4) could allow you to compare to a reference lap from a different run, and you have to choose which lap was your fastest I don't think it works that out for you. But for what you get, for CHF 3500, it isn't bad at all. I'm going to put my camera in the car too, which has real time data overlay, and play with them both.

    Hope this was helpful!

This is cool, can this be easily connected to a video cam?
Is the Race-Track tracking based on a GPS Tracking Device?

This GTO is One car, and you are lucky to be One of Five Hundred and Ninty Nine :)

I hope that they will be offering this on the 430 Scuderia's Successor (458 Whatever) :D

Does the speed just read in KPH or could Americans switch the readings to MPH?
Very neat to see this special option displayed in all the detail you have shared here. Every time you arrive at your destination you will be looking for the guy with the chequered flag!

The software doesn't seem to allow video sync. So it is much like many traditional logging systems. The track mapping is based on a combination of gps and accelerometers I believe.

Thank you for shraring with us this information. I have found that this System gives a lot of useful information for improving driving in trackdays.
I am going to ask my dealer if it can be installed in my Gto.
Share with us your experience in Fiorano with your Gto.

M, sorry I have no idea, maybe check it out with your dealer, anyway don't worry... in the meantime we can swap cars, as stated before ;-)

Good idea (both on the inquiry with the dealer and the swap of GTO's). Just mind the brake pads ;) You know they can "crackle" especially while following LPh :)
