Has anyone seen the new Lambo in the flesh yet. I have a friend who says he saw the car during a private unveiling in December down in Florida. Does anyone know how the new Lambo compares to the 599 or 458? Thanks. I have been offered a future build date and would appreciate some informed opinions. Have a 458 and a California that I would trade in.

well, i don't think anyone has had a chance to drive the new Lambo yet...aside from the Journo's that got to sample a late prototype..and those folks claim the new car is vastly better in handling vs the Murcie line, and it's super fast. based on the press release, the Lambo is quite a bit lighter than GTO and very close to the kerb wgt of the 458 (even though it has AWD and is a much larger car), has more HP, has a single clutch box that shifts as fast if not a bit faster than box in GTO. most signif difference is in chassis and suspension layout. Carbon vs Alum, horiz opposed rear vs 'standard' for the GTO and 458. Perhaps you should wait to see it, drive it, before commiting to the build slot? it will no doubt be very fast (0-60 in under 2.8 seconds) and the V-12 should be just as epic..700hp, 510lb ft...8000+ rpm.

Thanks for comparing the specs. I wasn't sure if anyone had a chance to drive one since that new carbon fiber tub should be the stiffest production car ever produced. Not sure how reasonable the car will be driving off the track. I heard the new seats are very comfortable and fully adjustable with lumbar support too. Cheers.

Apart from couple of journalists, who got a drive in the car (but did not drive it themselves) nobody outside the factory has had a chance.
You sure that was some kind of private unveiling of the car already??

Otherwise, the car is meant to compete with 599 successor so it will probably blow the 599 GTO performancewise..

No matter it's claimed performance, it'll still look and depreciate like all tractors! :)

Lp670 is doing quite well at the moment, as are most murcielago's.

The murcielago was about the same price as the 575 when they came out. In Europe the Murcielago is worth a bit more than a comparable 575. Same goes for the LP640 vs 599.

Everything I have read suggests this will be a ground-breaking achievement of a car. Reviewers say it feels much lighter, much more agile, and much more stable than even the SV. Lamborghini is headed into a new era and I don't think any of the old lambo gripes apply anymore.

Obviously nearly all sports/performance cars have had a tough time the last couple years, but the 550/575 models have never been exactly "paragons" of value against which a comparison would excite...

And let's be honest, as good as Lambos may be--and they are excellent performers--no matter the iteration, the Gallardo has tumbled like a stone falling off a cliff...

I don't really follow the Gallardo market to be honest.

But hey...these things are bought to have fun. Want an investment? Buy a painting by an artist that will die soon ;).

I think that quote sums up my feelings perfectly.

It should be better since it`s a new design, how old is the basic 599 ?

In the flesh, the aventador looks lightyears ahead of the 458 in terms of design and cabin layout. However, I still get that Audi-ish feel when I was sitting in e pilot slot...not what i want to feel in a supercar.

Sorry to disagree, but the this lambo, as is the Gallardo and Murci, are too angular to be considered a better design than the Ferrari. To me the 458 has more beautiful flowing lines--its a matter of person taste.
