If you are serious about acquiring a GTO I'd respectfully suggest introducing yourself in the 599 section and state what you seek. Be specific as to whom you are (ie. Country your from, dealer vs. private acquisition/colors/mileage/etc.) as GTO owners are very faithful and devoted to their cars as well as being some of the most diverse owners on Fchat (geographically speaking). The 599 GTO owners on Fchat live everywhere, from GB to Malaysia, from France to the US and from Australia to Switzerland. As an aside, if you seek a US spec car (125 approx. came to the US) you will have a hard time finding an original owner car but a relatively easy time finding a non-black version as black colors on a GTO are a distinct minority at least compared to the reds. Of the 4 publicly for sale now in the US there are 4 colors available: red, silver, white and black. Most GTO's have rather unique specs so my suggestion is to be flexible and be willing to compromise. Check out cars.com, auto trader.com, dupont registry.com. etc. Good luck in your search.

Unfortunately, it will be difficult if you're 'too shy'.

yes. there are a couple of issues with all of them: first one is that they are sold by dealer - i prefer to buy from original owner who obsessively cared for the car and never even let valet drive the car. second issue is that their milage is a bit high.

the red car in Florida that I specifically looked at has already had 3 owners and moved around the country bit.

Plain truth is that a large percentage of the US spec GTO's have had multiple owners. I believe that is not due to a buy and flip mentality but due to the fact that the car is simply too raw and visceral for most. There are many people who buy the GTO thinking she will be a car that you will want to take a leisurely stroll to the grocery store or whatever (ie. that the GTO is like a GTB). When they get the GTO in their garage and start using her they come to the quick realization that while the GTO could be used as a DD her personality is really to explosive for most. She is extremely loud and raucous and an extraordinarily challenging driver. The GTO is clearly not for the faint of heart. So some end up owning a GTO for a matter of months before trading her in on a docile F12 or 458 Italia (relatively speaking). Just my experience. My nero setoso GTO had 3 prior owners with 2 prior driving her very little very little and owning her for a matter of months. I wouldn't trade my "pre-owned" multi-owner GTO for 2 new F12's ! BTW there is one single owner GTO available at F of SLC. Yes she is black but she also has 72 miles on her and has never been registered. I would buy this one (a 2nd GTO) to store away. I know that they have rejected $725K and will end up getting their $749K AP in a matter of days/weeks. The F of SLC GTO has a very low MSRP and minimal carbon. The black on a GTO is gorgeous but I'm not a huge fan of the red racing livery and mirrors. Anyway, if your going to be a driver then don't buy the SLC car and just shoot for the best color combo. If you get a PPI or purchase from a F car dealer you will be ok. BTW I'd want to get the car from a dealer as they can offer a Ferrari power warranty - basically a new car warranty which can be renewed on an annual basis for approx. $6K (for several years) and should give you some peace of mind.

If something is spending 750k on a car do they really need a warranty. I'm sure the guy is not going to put a lot of miles on it. You can tell by what he says that he is going to baby the car. If someone wanted one as a driver they would not be concerned about multiple ownership or if a valet had driven the car once. There only concern would be condition and mileage.

Mine is up for sale... I can't drive it around anymore without thinking some soccer mom is going to side swipe me... At the current values it's more of a headache to drive around. PM me for details. Will listed at my local dealer soon.

Is it my imagination or are there some drivers that really love getting right up on your tail if you're in a Ferrari?

But I guess I'm more worried about the drivers that are clueless and distracted than the ones who actually are paying enough attention to recognize what car I'm driving...

Any idea, besides the fact that it is a Canadian car, why this GTO is priced much lower than the other US cars, including the one with 3K miles listing for over $700k? I would expect it be easily over 600k USD for a 4k miles car.

I was wondering the same thing. It makes me think that most of the cars offered over $700k are not being sold at that amount, and this car is more realistic in terms of asking price. It could also have something to do with it being a Canadian car. To me, it would be less appealing due to whatever process you would go through to make it legal for the US.

Canadian or not still one of only 599 special cars. I think it's a good buy and importing to the states is not a big deal. JMO
