The center panel in the headliner sagged, so i had an uph. shop fix it. It started sagging again before long (in the hot California sun) so I think it has to be fixed with heat resistant glue. Anyone have experience with that? Can the headliner be removed by removing the edge panels, starting with removal of the dome light?

It's a very common problem the 599 has mate. The roof lining needs to be removed from the car and repaired properly. The problem from memory is not the glue itself, but the foam 'underlay' itself. It perishes over time and will need to be replaced.

I have never removed one from the 599, but plenty of others from all different makes and models of cars.

The plastic trim pieces need to be removed along with the interior light etc for the roof lining to be removed.

It might be easier to let the upholstery shop do this job as they would have done this plenty of times.

But if you want to save an hour or so labor cost, remove it yourself and take it down to them to repair it.

    Take care and have fun.

Not sure on the 559, but some cars have the headliner installed before the front windshield is in place. Complete removal may not be possible. It may have to be repaired in place.
