During the unveiling of the F10 challenger, Montezemolo just announced that there will be 599 hybrid brought to market in the next 24 months. "F1 should be the edge of automobile technology--not spaceship technology; so we have learned to make a hybrid" was his only elaboration. :s Anybody got details?
This is the first I'm reading of the Ibrida, though Ferrari has been talking about a more economical approach for a few years now. What is the F10 Challenger?
+100 it sucked in F1 and with Ferrari's numbers, what is the point? Better to reduce weight than to add on stupid batteries. That goes for the SLS Electric and the R8 (electron) as well.
IF its got some sort of regenerative braking and an electric "boost to pass" motor, it might be pretty trick.
I agree, but it's probably their only way to pass the upcoming emission laws without modifying extensively the car. Sad to see Ferrraris being mutilated by this "race" to go green
That's the same as t@@ts on a board. Most retarded. Who are they kidding? What's the point? Keep as a lab project, but don't sell it. Mike
612 scaglietti successor will have V8 Turbo Maybe 599 Ibrida is the last Ferrari project with 12 cylinder
. This is Ferrari applying their technical knowledge. You really think Ferrari need any PR applause? Hybrid doesn't have to mean it runs on Fairy Dust with Strawberry scented exhaust, but probably has something to do with the KERS system (as everyone has concluded). I'm curious to see how it turns out, but in no way do I think it's going to have a negative impact on the automobile itself, or the company's name. If anything, it could just show that their engineers are thinking outside the box, and ahead of their competition. _J
+1 I think it's great and means that they are not wasting fuel when stopped, and KERS did work in F1 they just did not get it dead right. Must look forward ... Pete
Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa stated in australia today, that the 599 presented at geneva is not an production car, and that the system wont be developed enough for production, whilest not sacrificeing ferrari traditional values for at least 5 more years! here is the link http://www.italiaspeed.com/2010/cars/ferrari/02/599_hybrid/0302.html
