hi guys 599 with oil pooled in the intake manifold which has contaminated the MAF sensors. seems to be a recurring issue, about once every 18 months. is this normal? if not, any ideas on how big a problem this is? thanks again john
There are many aftermarket catch cans. This is a common occurrence with high compression and turbo charged engines. A catch can is pretty cheap, and helps significantly.
Are you overfilling the oil? Be sure to follow the directions in the Owner's Manual (page 147) when checking level. Try keeping oil level mid-way between the marks on the dipstick.
No & yes. If you have it above the minimum you can have the level become too high when hot and "breath" into the intake. I always keep my customers just above the minimum mark on the dip stick when completely hot. This will have the level on the stick very low when cold. I have cleaned air boxes and intakes on a number of cars. Not uncommon. Clean it up and drop the level. Then go forth and enjoy.
This. Very common when an owner tracks his car, oil gets hotter plus the extra car Gs, many times trips codes and can go into a limp mode.
cool, thank you all for the replies. this is not for my car--i do not yet own a 599--but i was looking at a car for sale that exhibited this issue. this certainly helps to clear things up.
