Money aside (since the premium on the 599 is stupid high), if you had them both, but could only keep one, which one would it be. This is a theoretical question as I am not selling either at this point. Just wanted to hear your thoughts and share mine.

    I go back and forth.

The 599 is much more focused, fun and beautiful, but the 612 is about as close to the perfect car (at least for me) that I have found. Its the Ferrari family car. Big and easy to drive, but with the soul, speed and beauty of a modern Ferrari. It actually has modern gadgets and dudads. Ferrari finally made a car with auto folding mirrors and an auto boot closer. It also has a huge boot (by Ferrari standards) with a hidden compartment (a la Rolls-Royce) and two glove compartments (passenger and center). Additionaly, whatever they have done to the mechanism that opens the engine compartment, they should do to all of their cars - its so soft and easy that its feels electric. Its what the DB9 wants to be!!! Finally an exotic supercar that my wife doesn't ***** about.

    What do you guys think?

BTW, a 599 GTB 2+2 would be very interesting...

612 HGTC is definitely on my shopping list at some point. What a fantastic car. How such a big car can handle so well is amazing - and the sound. Makes every other 2+2 lame. I will not buy a Maserati GT because the 612 is so superior. I don't care about the depreciation - I want this car. Nothing better than driving in a great car with your family. Unless you have no kids, only the 612 can offer this. 599 is fantastic but I miss my kids!

it probably depends upon whom you ask.

for me, i would not want a 612 as it's too big and bloated for my tastes, a Ferrari SUV lacking the lift kit. the 599 appears more athletic and attractive. those that play up the family aspect of the 612 may be saying that the 612 is more practical in general. and i've heard that the 612 at speed "shrinks around you." so it's evidently nice.

i guess if you are in the luxo-barge crowd, enamored with power everything and 4 seats, the 612 is for you. however the people on Top Gear loved it, for example, saying it exceeded their expectations. apparently after you drive the 612, you're hooked. and you see past it's challenged appearance.

The 612 will be a sleeper kind of car in the near future.
    What a great car!
It is stylish, high performance, yet ultimately more practical.
The scallops on the side are more unique than current car lovers give it credit for.

As usual, the 2+2 model will drop its price like a rock in the relative market place.
So, when most nice 612 cars get eventually below a $120k asking price, they will be an incredible value.
It compares to a Bentley Continental GT, but from the much more exclusive Ferrari/Pininfarina ancestry.

It is the next step in the history of the GTC/4 and 456M.

You hit the nail on the head. Driving the 612 is a really unique experience. How such a big car can feel so light and athletic is one of the world's great mysteries. Now, the 599's drive - that is truly nirvana. The 612 is great and practical and probably the better all around choice, but there is a reason dealers can get 200k over sticker on a used 599. It's the best driving Ferrari, EVER!
