How many of you guys use their 599 as a daily driver? Is it advisable? Please share!
The 599 is a wonderful machine. 45,000km in 2yrs and it gets better all the time. As you can imagine the fuel economy is terrible. The car is big (wide) and entering underground parking lots can be an issue as a result. It also attracts a lot of attention (especially in red). Other than that, it's as good a DD as a 911. The car is very comfortable when you want it to be and, when the mood strikes, it will really put a smile on your face. The 599 is a very special car. Is there something specific you would like to know?
Thanks a lot for your answer, Carlo! Wow that's a lot of km for two years! That must have been a lot of money spent on gas!! I'm used to bad fuel economy - maybe not as bad as the one of the 599, but hey it has got over 600HP - the machine needs to be fed! About the dimensions - how's the ground clearance? Does it have a hydraulic lifting system? If yes do you have to use it a lot? There are quite some speed bumps where I live... So driving it in the city a lot doesn't give you neck pain? Is it not too hard? And last - the trunk is about 300L right? So plenty of room for DD transportation.. PS: I love your 599! What's the interior color?
Peter- Ferrari did not offer a hydraulic lifting system for the 599. That being said, the ground clearance is very good for sports car . Noticeably better than a 997 911 Turbo for instance. I have never scratched the 599's nose on a speed-bump. It even manages entrance ramps to ferries without any issues (unlike the Turbo). With a little prudence, I don't think that ground clearance should be an issue on a stock 599. City driving is fine. The visibility is quite good and ride more than acceptable for a sportscar (it's no Mercedes S class of course). For instance, it rides better than a 911 Turbo on rough surfaces when in rain mode (the ride is noticeably softer when in rain mode). The car, however, is big and you have to be careful in tight spaces. The color is called cuoio...it's a little darker than the classic tan/beige. Thanks a lot for your answer, Carlo! I know the color Cuoio, I just didn't see any pictures of your interior. Haha that's indeed a big trunk for a sports car! Nice pics!
