"disconnect" not that high. Dealer asking 279k means they would probably accept 250k. Then we'll have to factor in any late bids.
Just did the math. I am about $4.80 per mile, but the vast majority of that is the depreciation in value. I am down over $130,000 on price, if we use $135,000 as the current value. As I head towards 75,000 miles, that number should fall into the mid $3.00 range, I think.
That's the key. Put more miles on that Puppy! Your $PM will go down. (I bought my TR for 120K new and sold it 155K miles later with a rotted chassis for 23K. The rest was service costs) Best
Less than 40 mins to go on the auction -- 10 bids -- $226,769.69 edit : Auction ended -- Reserve not met -- $230,100 I'm guessing roughly $20k short of reserve given the asking price of $279k
The disconnect was not breeched. Here's another one. The dance goes on: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160416143209&viewitem=&_trkparms=clkid%3D8749078077485101192
Those guys need a course in sales and marketing. They take that beautiful car and photograph it in front of mini-storage units.
Went to drive the car yesterday. Perfect as new condition. Nice color combo. Only one problem: car was not all that fun to drive, IMO. Did about 15 to 20 miles along some winding roads, 40 to 100 mph range, mostly 3rd and 4th gear stuff. Found engine fantastic as expected, the rest underwhelming, especially the steering which was light and lacking in feel. I'm sorry, but for fun driving give me a CS or Scud, any day. My current GT3RS is also more fun, with lots more feel and precision. So, in a nutshell, the 599 is off the shelf for me. No offense to those who love it, of course. To each their own. Best.
Then you go an add another 20 cause the first five wasn't informative - 3% of the depreciation should have left about 2500 for that joy!
"Those guys need a course in sales and marketing. They take that beautiful car and photograph it in front of mini-storage units. " So right!
This will probably have a flurry of bids soon: 8 hours to go -- 6 bids -- $112,100 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/07-599-F1-ALL-OPTIONS_W0QQitemZ170463695908QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item27b06d9424

It is amazing--that price. Everyone can learn from this. When prices first started to peak and then head downhill, the best strategy would have been to price a sale slightly below market. By the time people got around to viewing the car and inspecting it, the market feel a little more and this price would have been in line with market. The only issue would have been the downward momentum on the market. Now that the market is in free fall, the same rule still applies. Sellers must look at where the market will be in a month, instead of trying to test market highs right now. Otherwise, these sellers will still be owners in a month. Too many times, people take a photo of the market now with no appreciation for context and are surprised when nothing happens in a month.
A true statement for sure. Obviously, this car...indeed any car is worth what a willing buyer will pay for it, and 599's, like many high end cars, are suffering. Plus, 12 cyl Ferrari's coupes traditionally fall pretty hard in year 3-4. But its an unstructured and "reserve based" auction on ebay--and I've often found to be rather poor at providing accurate values UNLESS the car has "over sticker" value status... So $145k is the fair price on a 5k mile 2007 599 with a sticker of $330k? Unless there is a story on this car, I find it hard to believe, even in this market...my guess, if that's what is can be called, is a bit less than the price of the last '07, 5k, black/black sold at our local dealer (approx 60 days ago)....which was $235k +/-. But then, who knows until you're holding a chk book and cutting the actual deal.
Getting real close to 575M prices two years ago, when they were $130-170, depending on MY and options. Sub-$200K 599s really make one sit up and take notice. But then we have had sub-$100K 575Ms for quite a while. Taz Terry Phillips
