Fabio makes beautiful stuff, but he's in Italy. I know for a fact that there are some very skilled guys in NZ which would be much easier for the OP...

Yes it`s Rosso Scuderia, and Simon it is a great base, in fact too good , its becoming very clear that the car is too good to bastardize in any way, which is a bit of a double edge sword, great for me that its a pin of a car but hard to take it out to the dream of a hard out track car, I`am going to wait until we get the engine apart, see how the costs go and then settle on how far to take it, current thoughts are HTGE suspension, aero kit,2nd cat delete ,HGTE tcu upgrade, GTO wheels, oh nearly forgot, Red Green White stripe down the middle

IMO you are on the right "track" :D

You might want to have some custom brake ducts built. Great bang for the buck.

I have fixed a couple of flood cars. Really I like them better than bent metal.

Progress and good luck, striped the motor and the news is fantastic, heads and valve train completely untouched/undamaged , left bank clean , right bank took the brunt , but because it was at low revs ,very little damage. at this stage ,one bent rod ,one piston&liner and that's it as far as the eye can see, have sent everything to be assessed and crack tested by the engineers but at this stage its looking like a very light repair

jonny , according to the owner the car got very little water inside, not enough to puddle above the carpet but the intakes are plumbed to the front bumper and a 6ltr engine doing 1200 rpm sucks 7200 cubic ltrs of air per minute, that makes for a pretty good vacuum cleaner,LOL , the car was pushed from the puddle by two road workers with in minutes and without the owner and his wife having to exit the car , so all in all it didn't get all that wet for very long at all, the rebuild process is proving to be very painless and relatively simple, to be fair i have a great team on board for the project

Hi, I'm Fabio from Italy, i have did the headers 6-1 for 550/575 but at the moment not for 599, on ebay Germany now are available une set of GTO headers, but remember that your 599 have 4 upstream lambdas and 4 downstream lambda, instead GTO have 2 upstream lambda and two downstream lambda, then or you modify ECU or you modify headers.
With 6-1 you will have a gorgeous sound and more engine power.

    Best Regards

    Fabio

Love those wheels for the 599. Are they available in the right size and offset to match the factory GTO wheels?

Makes sense, Had no idea they were bottom feeders.

I'm looking at one now and it looked really clean but it ended up being the ingestion into the motor that totals the cars.

    thanks for the education.

Please do keep us up to speed on how easy / difficult the installation of those 6-to-1 headers is.

I have a 599 and was planning on installing the Novitec system, but would far prefer a system that gives you that high-pitched GTO noise.
