My 599 has had two instances of "engine runaway" immediately upon starting. The first time it redlined before I cut the ignition switch. The second time I was able to cut the ignition switch by about 7K. Each time the second start attempt was normal.

The problem appears to be random. So far there are no indications on how to recreate the problem or to anticipate it.

Usually ops normal, but an awareness that this may occur at any time is unsettling.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Jack

Sounds like a bad throttle position sensor. As you know, there is no throttle cable, just a potentiometer connected to the gas pedal, which sends a signal to the ecu for the throttles. The ecu electronically opens the throttles. It sounds like a problem with the gas pedal/sensor, which I believe is only available as one complete part. Some diagnosis with an SD3 might be in order.
