Hi I saw some photos of 599 seats, which have a small "hole" between the 2 carbon protected race seat belt holes in the seat back. I believe that i saw this only at the passenger seats. What ist this, why is this present at some cars, not at all cars ? Daniel
I found 2 different variants of these "hole, a larger one and a smaller one. The smaller one is without a frame, only stitched leather, seen at the silver HGTE manual that is for sale here : Used 2008 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano 6-Speed Manual For Sale Plano, TX | VIN# ZFFFC60A380159976 Daniel Image Unavailable, Please Login
I believe that is actually for the legally-required LATCH child safety seat attachment system required in all US cars. It is to attach a rear tether for a front-facing child safety seat. it is only present in the passenger seat since you would not, presumably, have a child safety seat in the driver's seat... Of note, earlier carbon fiber seats did not have this hole. My 2003 360 Spider has the carbon fiber racing seats but does not have the supplemental LATCH hole.
Interesting....Never seen before. Thanks for sharing. I also found something strange I can't figure what's the purpose of it. Any idea...? Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's the latch that gt1995 is talking about, for the kids seat. I have the latch on my 09 599, but with no holes in the Daytona seats.
That is correct. Many of the early LATCH cars had a sort of y-shaped strap coming off the car seat that went around the sides of the top of the seat and then hooked into the metal ring under that black cover. Later ones may have only had one tether, hence the hole.
