Had breakie with a good mate of mine this morning on the Kings Rd. Saw lots of nice motors going past then a stunning blue with yellow calipers 599 went past and mate mate mentioned that his mate, a well know prem player who has already had 2 599's, had ordered a Spyder version of the car through HR Owen.

I got to thinking. The back of the car is probably its best feature, i really like the back of the 599 which goes against my opinions on the majority of back ends on modern Ferrari's, but i think a hood is going to totally ruin the look of the car. I also don't really get the appeal of a big V12 convertable GT car? Why?

Whats your opinions? Im guessing a good spec'd car will list around £225k? Would you really buy one over other things you could get?

A good specced current 599 is around 225k, list is now £202k for an F1  I would expect at least a £25k uplift for a convertible. I know of another multi-Ferrari owner who has his name down for one and I've registered a verbal interest although there is no spec or list as such. I have heard it implied that the design was a development of the 575SA roof perhaps similar to the Porsche Targa

An aero top certainly could get round the problem of the 599's rear struts!

Im sure Ferrari will do the right thing

Mr Frank? I also have a 'mate' who is 'mates' with him. Mabye it is his 599 you saw this morning, if im not mistaken it is as you described with chromed option wheels. Anyhow, the 599 has not appealed enough (asthetically) to me to warrant a purchase, IF it had a hard top folding roof, and it looked as good as it does right now in GTB form, then mabye yes. It will be interesting to see, but I would very much doubt a SuperAmerica style 'flip' back roof.

    Best Regards

Its Frank Lampard. His 599 is now black with green leather, deff not the one i saw on The Kings Road. My mates name is Billy, who's Frank's best mate from growing up together.

Superamerica roof might work or something like that, but anything else would look daft. I have to say, i quite like V8's etc as a soft top, but i'd take a hard top 550, 575, 599 over a convertable version everyday of the week !!!

If they were a little more 'cruising' like, then ok,

so £250k for a nice spec'd 599 Spyder. Damm thats a lot. Expect to see one for £300k+ at your local Tom Hartley soon.

When are we going to see a 'normal' Ferrari become more expensive than an F50 ???

    Im saving my penny's for a black F50 !!

599 Spyder will have more horsepower than 599 and SF2. It will be the world's fastest cabrio. Production will be limited to 599 cars. Will be a killer car. It will not be like SA which was a parts bin special to clear out 575 carcasses when the model was in decline. 599 does not need a parts bin special as sales are strong. In Hong Kong the SA has been dubbed to Stupid America for the puddle deposited on your head when you close the top at the front end of a shower. 599 is a great cruiser

Have you been in a 575SA? It has drainage outlets for the water - the puddle thing is a myth.
