The 599 has a complex , audacious design. It is difficult to appreciate. The first time I saw the 599, I was thinking "Ferrari design is definitely gone wild". A few years later I consider it as a masterpiece of automotive design.
The 599 is a true modern era design masterpiece IMO and the most beautiful F-car since the 1960ies. Yeah, I said it.
I like where they are going with the new design. I fully expect the rear of the FF (the tail lights) will make its way on to this.
Sidetrack Lets look at this, when the 599 was launched in 2006 the Murcielago was around and many thought the 599 was conservative in relation to that, some thought it was ugly, some thought it had no drama. Back in 1968-9 much the same thing happened, people thought this car was ugly, it was conservative and would never become a classic. Its name: 365GTB/4 aka Daytona. My point being this new car may look radical but the true measure of its design will be how its looked upon in 10 or 15 years. Just my 2c.
absolutely agree! in my view, these factors will firmly cement the 599 in the top tier of Ferrari legends: - classic Ferrari style: long-nose/short-rear-deck, 12 cylinders up front - the last generation of manual transmission cars from Maranello - a GTO version how can the history books not look favorably upon this beautiful machine? well, doesn't mean i'm not looking forward to what's coming next ...
Its funny how every few years people do the same thing when Ferrari introduces a NEW car. They try to draw the new car then tell everyone this is what it will look like when they don't have a clue what it will look like. As I understand it, this will be a completely new model & will look nothing like the 599 but have 458 elements to it. This isn't an evolution of the 599, that was the GTO. I'm very excited to see this new car although I am keeping my expectations down because it seems Luca wants the front engine cars to be more practical and conservative while the mid egine cars the 458 very sporty and the enzo's successor will be wild and outrageous.
I do expect a lot from the new car, good news are the lighter weight then 599 and outrageous amount of power.... Does not sound like a comfort targeting GT.
That's not correct. Ferrari, as part of the Fiat in investors presentation last year (available elsewhere in this Forum) specifically divided their cars into GT and Sports. GT consisted of the Cali and FF/612 - Sports consisted of the 458, 599 GTO & 599 replacement as well as the Enzo replacement. Truth is Luca wants all the cars to be practical and reliable enough to use every day, if that's what owners want. And he has said that many times.
The 599 GTO certainly hasn't let me down when it comes to being reliable and practical. I expect the 599 replacement to be very pleasant to drive around town and nothing short of spectacular when you floor it.
I'm talking about styling wise. I'm sorry but the California, 599 and FF are not sporty like the 458 and no where near outrageous as the Enzo or the Enzo's successor will be. The 599 successor won't be practical from a performance stand point but I believe the styling will be.
I have a feeling it will be a beauty, when I first saw the first pictures of the 599 in Red it was a bit underwhelming, but as time goes by, IMHO it is one of the most beautiful modern Ferrari's.
Great news! Too bad I won't get an invite! I think some "leaks" closer to the event but I doubt anything this month (i.e. January).
My birthday is February 21... Will Ferrari Invite me ? Anyway, I jus hope the car will look spectacular and won't be so smaller than the GTB... I want it BIG I also hope we will see the first pics in February. Another question , As for now, we are not even sure the car will be released at Geneva Motor Show ?
